WE 93: 'The Ancient Vine series is a unique selection of ancient vineyard sources in Contra Costa County, which is well-known for heritage varietals. The site is entirely dry-farmed and organic. One of my favorite expressions to experience is Mourvedre; this one is deep, with savory aromas of mulberry, huckleberry, clove, dried florals, and toasted oak on the nose. The palate is fresh, juicy raspberry, pomegranate, grilled tangerine, white pepper, star anise, and supple tannins on the finish.'

WE 90: 'The nose is peppery, tangy and earthy, with aromas of top soil, coffee grinds and black cherry. On the palate, blackberries and a sweet mocha current bolster the black cherry note, even as the tangy bite of black pepper lingers. Polished yet powerful tannins keep lively acid in check.'

WE 93: 'This wine is lush, bright, with aromas of pineapple, apple, orange cream, and notes of toasted vanilla on the nose.'

WE 93: 'A classy bottling from (arguably) Australia's best Chardonnay-producing region, Margaret River. It smells of pineapple shortcake, flint, toasted nuts and seashell. There's lovely approachability to the palate; it's long and lip-smacking, the fruit folded into a subtly creamy texture. A bargain for the quality.'

WE 92: 'This is a very satisfying Chardonnay at a fair price, starting with familiar aromas of toasty coconut and juicy white peach on the nose. The palate is broadly laid across flavors of buttercream, lemon and passionfruit, with sandy tannins providing textural depth.'

WE 91: 'The pleasing aromatic duo of sweet lemon drop hard candies and earthy post-rain slate patio tiles is a heck of an introduction. The wine's lemon curd and saline flavors are backlit by refreshingly crisp acidity. With a fresh texture and the bite of that acidity, this Pinot Gris will make a great pairing with fish tacos and sunshine.'

WE 92: 'Quite fruity and primary but highly likable, with oodles of fresh tropical and citrus fruit and orchard blossom notes. There's zippy acidity and a little textural weight, making this ultra easy to knock back, but also a versatile food pairing. It's a bargain to boot.'

WE 92: 'This is s sparkling wine with a serious side. Bready notes fill the nose including freshly-baked brioche, bread dough, yogurt, marmalade and lemon peel. The palate is fresh and effusive with notes of development that impart depth. A great find if you can score a bottle.'

WE 92: 'The nose opens saline, savory and citrusy, then introduces wild strawberries, wild cherries and watermelon. Raspberries join more cherries and strawberries on the palate, alongside a citrus medley and lots more salty, savory elements. A refreshing, unexpected wine that presents a lot of depth through a grape that doesn't always get room to stretch its legs.'

WE 91: 'The wine's macadamia nut and lemon-infused mineral water aromas mingle with a smoky note similar to sparking a fire with pieces of quartz. A tart and tangy mouthfeel is fueled by sprightly acidity and flavors like lemon sorbet and orange zest. At this price, you get quite the bang for the buck.'

WE 91: 'The nose is light and bright, with aromas of citrus and salt air as well as a crisp white flower note. The nose has more citrus, but also a nutty salinity for a savory, lively feel that fills the whole mouth.'

WE 91: 'I don't have much of a frame of reference for Lemberger, but I really enjoyed this wine. Its tart marionberry aroma is such a Pacific NW thing. Other aromas include lavender and wet cement, which leads to flavors of plums, black walnuts, orange, clove and cinnamon. This spicy treat has brisk acidity, silky tannins and a glossy mouthfeel.'

WE 91: 'Black cherry, cranberry skin, violet, white pepper, and thyme come together in a concentrated and expressive nose. The rich, powerful palate offers notes of licorice, balanced by fresh acidity, with minerality and stoniness driving through the midpalate. It finishes on a soft, salty strawberry note. This is an easy choice alongside an earthy, juicy burger?think mushroom or bison.'

WE 91: 'The aromas of Bing cherry snow cones, violets, blackberries and chamomile are so fresh that it feels like someone opened the window for a breeze to pass by. It is a bit different when you take your first sip. A crispy blackberry turnover flavor is pierced by a black tea note matched by leathery tannins. This is an attractive yin-yang situation.'

WE 90: 'Expressive and lifted right out of the glass, this ros頩s a vibrant and energetic as they come. Opening with aromas of wild strawberries, crushed sour cherries, mint and a touch of thyme. Crunchy with a line of acidity that runs the entire length of the palate making each sip refreshing. Mixed red berries drive the palate as the wine finishes with a subtle floral note, giving the wine a very elegant finish.'

WE 91: 'Flinty, stony aromas give a mineral edge to the nectarine and singed key lime touches on the nose of this bottling. That flinty character extends to the palate, playing against a backdrop of apple and pine grapefruit flavors.'

WE 91: 'Inky hued, this is a densely packed Cab with concentrated black and red berry fruit, licorice, cedar and winter warming spice behind. It's as rich and mouth-filling on the palate as the color and aromas suggest, but with a lovely lift of tangy acidity to balance chiseled, powerful tannins.

WE 91: 'Impressive, fruit-forward aromas of red berries mixed with a dash of oak spices set the stage for an equally delicious palate. Good acidity provides freshness and energy to raspberry and savory flavors.'

WE 90: 'Opulent, with aromas of Olallieberry, dark cherry, cardamom, and floral notes and molasses on the nose, blackberry jam, satsuma orange cream, interwoven clove, and chewy tannins on the finish. Aerate and pair with grilled teriyaki beef steak.'

WE 90: 'Damp earth aromas lead quickly into sharp yet ripe cherry aromas on the nose of this bottling. Likable flavors of black cherry greet the palate, as wet clay, cocoa, mint and mace flavors add impressive complexity at this price point.'

It has a firm structure that provides support to succulent black and red fruit flavors, thyme and hints of clove.'
