How Many: 16.99 each

s1219-103. 16 HEDGES RED MOUNTAIN CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine & Spirits 94 - YEAR'S BEST CABERNETS: 'A melding of warm Red Mountain fruit and sumptuous oak, this has dense, dark fig and carob scents that combine with aromas of clove, cinnamon stick and baking spices. All of these notes effortlessly integrate into the wine's elegant texture, the flavors carried on tobacco- and cedar-scented tannins. A beautiful performance; for a festive roast beef dinner.'
How Many: 42.99 each

s1219-104. 16 ALEXANDRIA NICOLE A SQUARED HORSE HEAVEN HILLS CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine & Spirits 92 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Destiny Ridge is a 237-acre site overlooking the Columbia River in the center of a string of vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills. In 2016, it produced a supple and relaxed cabernet, with mild, savory fruit and compelling hints of carob and mace. Suave tannins mark the close, along with a mellow, cedary note of oak. $25.'
How Many: 23.99 each

s1219-105. 17 THREE THIEVES CALIFORNIA CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This exuberant wine is packed with expressive fruit aromas and irresistible flavors that range from cherry to black plum and blackberry. No noticeable oak gets in the way of the wine's fruit flavors. Medium body, good balance and gentle tannins make it easy to sip. $11.'
How Many: 9.99 each

s1219-106. 16 SEBASTIANI ALEXANDER VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine & Spirits 91 - YEAR'S BEST CABERNETS: 'Floral currant scents flatter this wine with gamey sweetness even as its structure is lean, with some bitter mineral intensity gripping the finish. It's tightly wound and red fruited, with a cactus-like green edge-a substantive take on the Alexander Valley: generously fruited, tightly built, delicious with a salad of duck confit. $40.'
How Many: 24.99 each

s1219-107. 16 ARIETTA QUARTET NAPA VALLEY RED
Wine Enthusiast 95 - TOP 100: 'Winemaker Andy Erickson coaxes beautiful fruit and structure from this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, many of the grapes from Coombsville and Carneros. Juicy and weighty on the palate in blackberry and blueberry, it offers firm integrated tannin and undeniable elegance, with lovely teases of dried herb, graphite and exotic spice.'
How Many: 69.95 each

s1219-108. 17 CHAPPELLET MOUNTAIN CUVEE NAPA VALLEY RED
Wine & Spirits - YEAR'S BEST CABERNETS: 'Phillip Corallo-Titus blends this wine from estate-grown fruit and purchased grapes, including cabernet sauvignon (55 percent), merlot (28 percent), malbec, petit verdot and cabernet franc. It has blue-sky flavors of ripe berries, with a little thunder of volatility in the tannins. Give it plenty of time in a decanter and the storms settle into an elegant, open and airy red, the fruit finely embedded into the tannins.'
How Many: 36.99 each

s1219-109. 16 LAIL BLUEPRINT NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine Enthusiast 96 - EDITORS' CHOICE: 'This is a stunningly beautiful wine at this price point, age-worthy and complex, it will stay with you long after it's gone. Opening in cedar, clove and cinnamon, it follows with a dusting of cocoa powder and toasted oak, before it offers a lingering thread of mineral in the form of crushed rock, violet, red and black currant. Structured as it goes, it finishes soft and silky. This is a wine for the cellar as well.'
How Many: 79.95 each

s1219-110. 17 AUSTIN HOPE PASO ROBLES CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine Enthusiast 95 - TOP 100: 'This bottling remains as impressive and delicious as it did upon debut two vintages ago. Aromas of black cherry, hickory smoke and vanilla cookie lead into a palate of brown sugar, sea salt, caramel and black-cherry foam, all framed by polished tannins and just enough acidity.'
How Many: 49.99 each

s1219-111. 16 SEBASTIANI NORTH COAST MERLOT
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100: 'Well-balanced and nicely concentrated, this full-bodied wine fills its firm frame with a core of rich black cherry and shades of roast beef and pepper. It shows firm tannins and good acidity to counter the deep fruit notes.'
How Many: 17.99 each

s1219-112. 16 FROG'S LEAP RUTHERFORD MERLOT
Wine & Spirits 93 - TOP 100: 'Hmm. Dry-farmed merlot in Napa Valley? John Williams and his team at Frog's Leap grow some of the freshest, prettiest merlot in a region where the variety is mostly irrigated and taken to extremes of richness. They focus this wine on fruit from their estate vineyard surrounding the winery on the east side of Rutherford, where the cool clay soils near the Napa River provide shelter for the vine roots while the heat of the day ripens the fruit. One taste of this wine may have you wondering why more growers don't follow their lead. I don't think I've ever written 'sing-song merlot' to describe the variety in Napa Valley, but there it is in my notes on this red-fruited wine, a mouthwatering depiction of red plums, savory chewing tobacco and light, brisk, gentle tannins. $40.'
How Many: 36.99 each

s1219-113. 17 CRISTOM MT. JEFFERSON CUVEE WILLAMETTE VALLEY PINOT NOIR
Wine Spectator 92 - TOP 100: 'Expressive strawberry blossom and raspberry aromas open to elegantly structured cherry and spicy cinnamon flavors that build richness toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2025. $35.'
How Many: 31.99 each

s1219-114. 17 BERINGER FOUNDERS' ESTATE CALIFORNIA PINOT NOIR
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This medium- to full-bodied wine is one of the best values in Pinot today. It shows classic black and red-cherry aromas, a broad palate of dark fruits and light oak spices. Lifted acidity and moderate tannins complete the nicely composed picture.'
How Many: 9.99 each

s1219-115. 17 ROUTE STOCK SONOMA COAST PINOT NOIR
Wine Spectator 91 - TOP 100: 'This offers creamy raspberry, currant and wild plum flavors, supported by medium-grained tannins. The spicy finish lingers with chocolate notes and hints of mint. Drink now through 2023.
How Many: 23.99 each

s1219-116. 16 BALLETTO RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR
Wine & Spirits 93 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This wine is fully concentrated yet delicately detailed. It's vinous rather than directly fruity, focused on the umami of velvet tannins and the bold spiciness of coriander and fennel. Dark, savory and yielding, it's a gracious Russian River pinot noir.'
How Many: 29.99 each

s1219-117. 17 CHRONIC CELLARS SUITE PETITE PASO ROBLES RED
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'The Beckett brothers deliver a wine that starts with aromas of concentrated blackberry jam, toasted wood, plum and violet. The palate is floral and fresh, with penetrating flavors of blueberry sorbet that rest against a strong tannic structure.'
How Many: `16.99 each

s1219-118. 16 METTLER FAMILY ESTATE LODI PETITE SIRAH
Wine Enthusiast 94 - TOP 100 CELLAR SELECTIONS: 'Wine doesn't get much deeper in color or more concentrated in fruit flavor than this. The black color goes to smoky red on the rim, while the aroma is rife with blackberry, licorice, sweet oak and black pepper. The palate boasts plump blackberry, soft blueberry and dark chocolate flavors. Fans of bold, full-bodied and saturated reds are going to love this. Best through 2030.'
How Many: 25.99 each

s1219-119. 17 HAHN CENTRAL COAST GSM
Wine Enthusiast 92 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Freshly crushed blackberry, leafy herbs, charred meat and a hint of oak show on the nose of this value blend of 65% Grenache, 33% Syrah and 2% Mourvedre. It's fresh on the palate in a black currant flavor yet savory in smoked meat, all framed by bright acidity and layered tannins.'
How Many: 14.99 each

s1219-120. 18 BONNY DOON LE CIGARE VOLANT CUVEE OUMUAMUA MONTEREY RED
Wine Enthusiast 93 - TOP 100: 'Randall Grahm's ever-evolving ideology shifted again for the new label and blend of this bottling, which includes 52% Grenache, 35% Cinsault and 13% Syrah. Aromas of plum, cracked pepper, crumpled carnations and dried mint lead into a bright, refreshing palate of hibiscus, anise and a curry-like spice.'
How Many: 19.99 each

s1219-121. 17 DRY CREEK VINEYARD HERITAGE VINES SONOMA ZINFANDEL
Wine Spectator 91 - TOP 100: 'Briary and vibrant, with zesty raspberry, toasted sage and cracked pepper flavors that take on richness toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2025. $26.'
How Many: 22.99 each

s1219-122. 17 RIDGE PONZO VINEYARD RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY ZINFANDEL
Wine & Spirits 95 - TOP 100: 'A roseate red, this is the pinot noir of zinfandel. The variety accounts for 98 percent of the blend (there's only a touch of petite sirah) and the wine transforms the thin skins of zin into a delicate, transparent structure, displaying clarity in the tannins with notes of raspberry seeds and crushed black peppercorns. It has the kind of tannins that would meld into eggplant tapenade with grilled lamb. The lasting flavors of raspberry and apple skin glow red, the wine's energy and stamina pumped up with luscious grape gentleness. A California beauty.'
How Many: 36.99 each

s1219-123. 17 GNARLY HEAD OLD VINE LODI ZINFANDEL
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This full-bodied wine is saturated with berry and bramble flavors, pushing the edge of sweetness. It's big and mouthfilling, but light on tannins, giving a jammy sensation that's supplemented by traces of dried sage and black pepper. $13.'
How Many: 11.99 each

s1219-124. 18 RODNEY STRONG ESTATE CHARLOTTE'S HOME NORTHERN SONOMA SAUVIGNON BLANC
Wine & Spirits 90 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This generous sauvignon's lemon pith flavors cut its passion-fruit sweetness. It's creamy enough for chicken in a buttery caper sauce. $17.'
How Many: 12.99 each

s1219-125. 17 J. LOHR RIVERSTONE ARROYO SECO CHARDONNAY
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This wine starts with plush aromas of yellow melon, plumeria, wild lime sorbet and a hint of cream. There is ample zip to the palate, where acidity and a strong floral character keep the honeydew and white peach flavors in check.'
How Many: 12.99 each

s1219-126. 17 CAROL SHELTON COQUILLE BLANC PASO ROBLES WHITE
Wine Spectator 93 - TOP 100: 'Fresh and spicy pear, lime and green apple flavors show details of matcha, peach blossom and honeysuckle in this white, which offers nice complexity and balance, with plenty of fresh acidity. Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier and Marsanne. Drink now through 2024.'
How Many: 23.99 each

s1219-127. 17 EMPIRE ESTATE FINGER LAKES DRY RIESLING
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100: 'A well-honed mix of ripe peach and tangerine mix with underscores of white blossoms and slate. The palate is broadly concentrated in ripe fruit flavors of tart kumquat and passion fruit that are struck against a taut, astringent sensation. Persistent bursts of acidity keep this both succulent and tense, making the palate beg for more.'
How Many: 17.99 each

s1219-128. 18 A TO Z OREGON RIESLING
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Off dry in style, this pops out a tasty mix of orange, grapefruit and apple fruit, with acidity that suggests a dash of lemon tea. There are more highlights, unexpected in a wine at this price, bringing floral and honey notes on through a lingering finish.'
How Many: 15.99 each

s1219-129. 17 FORIS ROGUE VALLEY DRY GEWURZTRAMINER
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This wine offers a deft mix of rose petal, baby powder and lychee aromas. There's plenty of spice, and, as it's bone dry, it matches well with peppery noodle dishes.'
How Many: 14.99 each

s1219-130. SOKOL BLOSSER EVOLUTION AMERICA WHITE
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'This popular, fruity white blend includes portions of eight different grapes, yet pulls itself together in a refreshing, coherent style. Tart apple and grapefruit flavors are at the heart of it, with spice and flower notes as well. It's a fine, all-purpose summer white.'
How Many: 14.99 each

s1219-131. 18 ELECTRA CALIFORNIA MOSCATO
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100: 'Quite sweet, but also quite tangy and well-balanced, this effusive, low-alcohol wine exudes lychee and floral aromas, offers honey and poached pear flavors and a rich texture buoyed by a touch of spritz and good acidity.'

How Many: 16.99 each

s1219-133. 18 DOMAINE BOUSQUET RESERVE TUPUNGATO CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100: 'A deep color and ripe aromas of black fruits and prune convey the friendly conditions of 2018. This Cab is saturated and full in volume. Blackberry, raisin, cassis and chocolate flavors finish warm and chocolaty. If you like your Cabernets ripe and rich, this is in that mold.'
How Many: 17.99 each

s1219-134. 17 MENDEL ESTATE MENDOZA MALBEC
Wine Enthusiast 93 - TOP 100: 'Great midtier value is found in this full-force Malbec from a powerful vintage. A blueberry pie aroma is ripe to the max, alongside a whiff of graphite. The fully extracted palate bursts with cassis and berry flavors, while the more this breathes, the less heavy it seems. Drink through 2028.'
How Many: 24.99 each

s1219-135. 17 CARMEN FRIDA KAHLO VINEYARD MAIPO VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100: 'Beyond the cool concept label, there's a serious Cabernet Sauvignon in the bottle-one with steady aromas of cola and root beer along with berries and light oak. A flush palate deals a full fan of berry flavors, while rubbing tannins give grip to an otherwise easy finish. Drink through 2024.'
How Many: 15.99 each

s1219-136. 17 MATETIC CORRALILLO SAN ANTONIO VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC
Wine & Spirits 92 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'The Matetic family planted their first vines in San Antonio in 1999, farming them under biodynamics. They have since expanded into Casablanca, where they grow a portion of this sauvignon to blend with their San Antonio fruit. It's rich and concentrated, with perfumed notes of agave and herbs woven into ripe fruit flavors of cherimoya and orange zest. Tight, spicy and long, this is a coastal white for pan-roasted sole.'
How Many: 14.99 each

s1219-137. 18 MT. BEAUTIFUL NORTH CANTERBURY SAUVIGNON BLANC
Wine Spectator 90 - TOP 100: 'Offers an appealing core of intense, lush flavors of ripe melon and peach, with details of white pepper, honeysuckle and ruby grapefruit lingering on the finish. Impressive for the intensity and focus.'
How Many: 16.99 each

s1219-138. 18 NOBILO ICON MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC
Wine Enthusiast 91 - TOP 100: 'Despite a tough vintage, this wine is showing all of the hallmarks of classic Marlborough Sauvignon. Aromas and flavors of snow peas, tropical and citrus fruits and touches of salty oyster shell are ensconced in a creamy texture and deftly balanced by citrusy acidity.'
How Many: 22.99 each

s1219-139. 17 FRANKLIN TATE MARGARET RIVER ZHIRAZ
Wine Enthusiast 90 - TOP 100: 'This is a fine and affordable example of the spicy, elegant Shiraz produced in the moderate maritime climes of Margaret River. The nose is a melange of plums, vanilla, pepper, baking spices and stalks, with a warm stone minerality. The palate is full bodied but restrained. Sinewy graphite tannins slink around tangy fruit and savory spicy nuances. Texturally, this feels like rolling a warm stone around in your mouth. The oak creeps in on the finish. Drink with a rare steak or juicy portobello mushroom burger.'
How Many: 16.99 each

s1219-140. 18 BROKENWOOD HUNTER VALLEY SEMILLON
Wine & Spirits 91 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Think lemongrass cream puff, then take away the richness, and you might have something like this rainwater-fresh, vibrant white. Its floral notes of white tea hint at the wine's leesy tannins, suggesting the complexity to come after a few years of bottle age. $20.'
How Many: 18.99 each

s1219-141. 18 A. A. BADENHORST SECATEURS SWARTLAND CHENIN BLANC
Wine & Spirits 94 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Drought conditions followed by a cool harvest season produced a stunning version of Adi Badenhorst's entry-level chenin. He took an unusual approach in 2018, harvesting the fruit over the course of 12 days and adding each day's fruit to the already-fermenting musts. All of it was whole-bunch pressed, and one-quarter was fermented in old casks, the rest in tanks. Left on its lees for seven months with occasional stirring, the final wine is as deep and rich in flavor as its yellow hue predicts: It moves from waxy apple flavors to mango, wildflower honey and tangerine. It feels all of a piece, bright acidity holding the flavors taut and firm, a large-boned chenin fit for a crown roast of pork. All that for $16.'
How Many: 14.99 each

s1219-142. 16 CHATEAU PONTET CANET, 5ME GRAND CRU, PAUILLAC
Wine Enthusiast 100 - TOP 100 CELLAR SELECTIONS: 'A voluptuous wine, this is rich and fruity yet properly balanced by a magnificent structure. Pure, crisp and packed with a black currant flavor, this will be a remarkable wine as it develops. Still young, it needs many years to develop. Don't think about drinking before 2025.'
How Many: 189.95 each

s1219-143. 16 CHATEAU BRANAIRE DUCRU, 4ME GRAND CRU, SAINT JULIEN
Wine Spectator 96 - TOP 100: 'The core of this red is loaded with pure plum, blueberry and black currant fruit flavors. The polished structure is integrated, with alluring ganache, anise and sweet tobacco notes throughout, all in a polished and balanced frame. A very classy red that isn't shy about its power but pushes its purity to the fore. Best from 2024 through 2039.'
How Many: 79.95 each

s1219-144. 16 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER, PESSAC LEOGNAN
Wine Spectator 96 - TOP 100: 'The core of fruit flavor here is sappy and dense, with lots of kirsch, raspberry pate de fruit and plum reduction notes, yet this stays fresh and racy overall, with a bright iron spine, flashes of tea and tobacco and a long finish that shows a wonderful infusion of alder and tobacco flavors. Offers a lovely combination of prodigious fruit details, with a tug of earth. Best from 2024 through 2038.'
How Many: 109.95 each

s1219-145. 17 MUSCADET SEVRE ET MAINE SUR LIE LE FILS DE GRAS MOUTONS, CLAUDE BRANGER
Wine & Spirits 93 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Claude and Sebastien Branger blend this wine from a range of estate parcels averaging 40 years old. Their 2017 is so constricted in its salty pear flavors that it put some tasters off, but that youthful concentration turned into an advantage with air, evolving toward kelpy Atlantic intensity, layered with fruit: peaches that are just coming into ripeness, bright oranges and Meyer lemons. Crisply detailed, this should age well over the next five years.'
How Many: 15.99 each

s1219-146. 17 CHINON, DOMAINE BAUDRY
Wine Spectator 92 - TOP 100: 'A gorgeous red, with tobacco, bay leaf and black pepper notes underscoring the dark cherry and cola flavors. Beautifully integrated tannins join the fresh acidity and create a solid structure that gives this harmony and promises a long life ahead. Delicious now, but should be even better in a few years. Best from 2021 through 2030. $24.'
How Many: 18.99 each

s1219-147. 15 COTE ROTIE BRUNE ET BLONDE, E. GUIGAL
Wine Spectator 96 - TOP 100: 'Dark and winey, this is youthfully tight, with a core of intense black cherry and black currant preserves, encased within layers of olive, singed alder, juniper and iron. Very focused and driven through the finish. Cellar for maximum effect. Best from 2022 through 2038.'
How Many: 74.95 each

s1219-148. 16 CORNAS EMPREINTES, DOMAINE DURAND
Wine Enthusiast 96 - TOP 100 CELLAR SELECTIONS: 'Aromas of baked plum and cherry mingle into leather, sun-baked earth and sage in this intensely perfumed Syrah. Bright, bristling black-fruit flavors and firm tannins pierce through the palate, extending into a smoky, mineral finish. It's stunning already but will gain even greater complexity and nuance through 2035.'
How Many: 39.99 each

s1219-149. 15 GIGONDAS, E. GUIGAL
Wine Enthusiast 92 - TOP 100: 'Pert black-cherry and blackberry flavors are anchored by an invigorating granite backbone in this bold but elegant red. It's lush and silky in mouthfeel, augmented by feathery tannins and sunny acidity, but maintains a vitality and earthen complexity that should hold well through 2025.'
How Many: 34.99 each

s1219-150. 16 GIGONDAS CUVEE BEAUCHAMP, CHATEAU DE MONTMIRAIL
Wine Enthusiast 94 - TOP 100 CELLAR SELECTIONS: 'Hints of crushed stone, savory dried thyme and lavender accent lush blackberry and cherry flavors in this wine. A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah, it's lavishly textured but anchored by restraint and earthiness. It drinks beautifully already but should improve through 2028. $35.'
How Many: 29.99 each

s1219-151. 16 CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE VIEILLES VIGNES, DOMAINE DE LA JANASSE
Wine Enthusiast 99 - TOP 100: 'Buxom and heady, this is a delightfully rich, hedonistic blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Sun-drenched mulberry and black cherry flavors are explosive on the palate yet it's an elegantly extracted, surprisingly charming wine edged with nuances of violet, dried thyme and earth. The tannins are soft in feel, making it hard to resist young, but there's plenty of time for improvement here too. $114.'
How Many: 94.95 each

s1219-152. 17 BRAUNEBERGER JUFFER RIESLING AUSLESE GROSSE LAGE, FRITZ HAAG
Wine Enthusiast 97 - TOP 100: 'Intensely ripe aromas of pineapple and blossom perfume this exuberantly sweet auslese. It's a stunningly concentrated, intoxicating wine, laden with sweet honey and stone-fruit flavors balanced by zippy lime acidity. Fresh and primary now, it is nuanced enough to gain complexity for decades to come.'
How Many: 49.99 each

s1219-153. 17 GRAACHER HIMMELREICH RIESLING AUSLESE, J. J. PRUM
Wine Enthusiast 95 - TOP 100 CELLAR SELECTIONS: 'Spicy, smoky earth tones and shards of slate juxtapose decadent sweet grapefruit and yellow cherry in this complex auslese. It's light as a feather yet unctuously ripe and rich, with a reverberating fringe of bitter chestnut skin. A bit tight now, but it should reveal stunning layers of fruit and earth from now --2040.'
How Many: 54.95 each

s1219-154. 16 DOURO, QUINTA DO VALE MEAO
Wine Enthusiast 98 - TOP 100; Wine Spectator 96 - TOP 100: 'Well-crafted, balancing power and finesse, this red layers raspberry gelee, cherry tart and olive tapenade flavors with cured meat, black tea and wild rosemary accents. Sinewy tannins mark the rich finish, infused with licorice, mocha and baking spice aromas. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Best from 2021 through 2030. $99.'
How Many: 89.95 each

s1219-155. 17 ALENTEJANO ALICANTE BOUSCHET ROCIM, HERDADE DO ROCIM
Wine Enthusiast 92 - TOP 100: 'This densely colored wine from Alicante Bouschet is packed with tannins, a black plum flavor and a firm structure. All of which suggests that this Catarina Vieira wine, from a warm south-facing vineyard, will age very well. Certainly don't drink before 2021, when the tannins will have softened.'
How Many: 22.99 each

s1219-156. 17 RIAS BAiXAS ALBARINO CEPAS VELLAS, DO FERREIRO
Wine & Spirits 95 - TOP 100: 'The sandy granite soils of Salnes have sustained a few small parcels of ancient vines, that soil protecting their roots from the ravages of phylloxera. Gerardo Mendez farms one of those blocks, 2.5 acres of vines he estimates to be 200 years old. They are trained high off the ground to keep the bunches dry, exposed to what sun and wind might counter the coastal rains. And they produce a wine with astonishing concentration of flavor, spicy and layered in its earthiness, notes of fennel in a lasting dynamic between scents of fresh pear and baked golden apple. It's rare to find a white wine with this much flavor intensity, as well as sheer grace. $56.'
How Many: 49.99 each

s1219-157. 17 RIAS BAIXAS ALBARINO ETIQUETA AMBAR, GRANBAZAN
Wine Enthusiast 92 - TOP 100: 'Lovely aromas of green melon and apple are on the money, as is all of this top-end Albarino from a highly reliable winery. Tight acidity matched with bold but fresh fruit make for an ideal palate, while this tastes of melon, apple and white pepper. A lively finish is jewel-like in its precision. $25.'
How Many: 21.99 each

s1219-158. 10 RIOJA CRIANZA VINA CUBILLO, R. LOPEZ DE HEREDIA
Wine & Spirits 91 - YEAR'S BEST RIOJAS: 'An estate-grown blend of tempranillo (65 percent), garnacha (25 percent), graciano and mazuelo, this is a classical, earthy Rioja with scents of anise and cool, lasting spice. It's lean, peppery and gentle, deliciously mature, ready to serve with roast fish in a mushroom and Rioja reduction. $29.'
How Many: 26.99 each

s1219-159. 05 RIOJA RESERVA BLANCO VINA TONDONIA, R. LOPEZ DE HEREDIA
Wine & Spirits 96 - TOP 100: 'Open the bottle and wake this wine from its deep sleep. You'll meet a gentle white Rioja, slightly irascible, as if you'd nudged a Spaniard out of her beauty sleep. The wine quickly finds its balance, a smoky, lemony chicken-broth scent, a pale earthy savor, a gentle beeswax character and lovely textural give. But it doesn't show itself until a day later, when scents of salted peach and crisp green pear begin to layer into the yellow fruit, refreshing the wine, bringing along a scent of roses and beautiful detail to the richness. This wine appears to be ageless and will likely live for decades. $50.'
How Many: 44.99 each

s1219-160. 15 RIOJA RESERVA FINCA YGAY, MARQUES DE MURRIETA
Wine & Spirits 92 - YEAR'S BEST RIOJAS; Wine Spectator 92 - TOP 100: 'Cedar, tobacco, dried cherry and spice flavors mingle in this red. Features a polished texture, with well-integrated tannins and orange peel acidity. Supple, harmonious and graceful. Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. Drink now through 2025. $29.'
How Many: 23.99 each

s1219-161. 16 PRIORAT BLACK SLATE LA VILELLA ALTA VI DE LA VILA, MAS ALTA

s1219-165. 15 BAROLO, PIO CESARE
Wine & Spirits 94 - YEAR'S BEST BAROLOS: 'According to Pio Boffa, his team has worked for more than a decade to identify clones with smaller berries and clusters that give more consistent phenolic ripeness and allow them to pick earlier, which keeps alcohol levels moderate. They have also refined their oak regimen over the years, backing off their use of new French oak barriques in their Barolos so that just 20 percent of the wine rests in new barriques, the rest in large oak casks, for about 30 months. Their efforts show in Pio Cesare's 2015 releases, some of the best we have tasted from this house. The 2015 Barolo is comprised of fruit from estate vineyards in five communes, including, for the first time, a small percentage from Monforte d'Alba's Mosconi, acquired by the estate in 2014. It's lively and long, with flavors of ripe red cherry and raspberry laced with subtle spice and bright notes of orange peel, the acidity drawing out the flavors into a balanced finish. $82.'

Wine & Spirits 92 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'After deciding not to make any Amarone in the difficult 2014 vintage, the Castagnedi brothers must have been pleased with the quality in Selezione, their flagship 2015. The fruit comes from mature vines, and they pick it slightly early to emphasize freshness and to keep the alcohol level around 15 percent. Even so, it's a densely concentrated wine, loaded with notes of clove and vanilla picked up during two years in new French oak tonneaux. The spice notes give way to more savory tones as the wine opens up, the flavors picking up energy as they expand across the palate. For all of its bold spiciness, it finishes dry and balanced.'

Wine Enthusiast 96 - TOP 100 CELLAR SELECTIONS; Wine & Spirits 93 - TOP 100: 'The 2016 growing season in Soave Classico was long and moderately warm, allowing the thick skins of the garganega grapes to ripen fully as they hung on the vines well into October. This wine flaunts that ripeness in tropical notes of pineapple that mingle with flavors of Bartlett pear and golden apple. Hints of white smoke, salt and crushed rock emerge as the wine opens, revealing the characteristic minerality of this volcanic site. Wine & Spirits 93 - YEAR'S BEST CHAMPAGNES: 'Emmanuel Lassaigne grows this wine at nine sites in heavy clay and chalk soils. His oak aging of the base wines lends this Champagne's scent a buttercream richness while the wine remains tightly bound by acidity. Almost ferrous in its searing intensity, that acidity finds balance in the wine's umami depths. Mouthwatering, sophisticated Champagne to serve with dinner, rather than before. $63.'

s1219-196. JEAN VESSELLE RESERVE BRUT CHAMPAGNE

s1219-197. JEAN VESSELLE ROSE DE SAIGNEE BRUT CHAMPAGNE
Wine & Spirits 95 - YEAR'S BEST CHAMPAGNES: 'Delphine Vesselle makes this rose by macerating whole berries at cold temperatures, then letting the temperature rise and the fermentation to start once the color begins to develop. She removes the skins after 12 to 14 days, then allows the wine to go through malolactic in tank on the fine lees. It may gain its sparkle in bottle, and its complexity as it ages en tirage, but it sustains the delicate clarity of Bouzy rouge, pinot noir that tastes like cherries and cherry pits, with an underlying oyster-shell minerality. The flavors develop with air, tight and inseparable, a gorgeous wine that may show its best with decanting. $62.'
How Many: 54.95 each

s1219-198. JEAN VESSELLE OEIL DE PERDRIX BRUT CHAMPAGNE
Wine & Spirits 95 - YEAR'S BEST CHAMPAGNES: 'In modern Champagne, any color that might bleed from the skins into the juice is usually filtered out, so the wine is clear. In this traditional style, Delphine Vesselle allows the ripe pinot noir grapes from her vineyards in Bouzy to bleed color from their skins, and doesn't filter it out, hoping to preserve what she describes as the soul of pinot noir. Everyone on our panel was struck by this wine's beauty, as its delicate touch seemed to connect with every scent and taste receptor at once. Auction-consultant Craig Ganzer commented on that complexity: 'I just kept taking notes,' he said. The pink color and the range of green herbs in the scent seem to resonate through the wine, taking its radish-like tension and formal structure in an understated direction. $65.'

s1219-199. LARMANDIER-BERNIER PREMIER CRU LONGITUDE BLANC DE BLANCS EXTRA BRUT CHAMPAGNE
Wine & Spirits 94 - TOP 100 BEST BUYS: 'Longitude is named for a string of parcels in the Cote des Blancs-running north from Vertus to Oger, Avize and Cramant-where chardonnay grows in thin top soils and the chalk is close to the surface. Larmandier farms his vines with biodynamic practices and ferments his wines without added yeasts in a mix of casks, wooden vats and stainless steel. He includes a portion of wine from a 'perpetual reserve' stock that he has been developing since 2004. Tim Buzinski, who teaches wine courses at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, described this wine as 'totally chalky,' and it does take those mineral tones to a level of complexity above the fruit, which ghosts through the wine in flavors of fresh pear, zesty orange and underripe peach. This is delicious Champagne, with structure that can handle some bottle age. $65.'

A portion of the blend (11 percent) was aged in foudres, adding power to the wine's structure without diminishing its scent of spring flowers, a sunny, floral note that contrasts the wine's chalk cloud of minerality and its rich depths of flavor. A great vintage from Clicquot, this is fresh, grand and giving.'
