WT092612-01. 11 NIEDEROSTERREICH GRUNER VELTLINER LOIS, FRED LOIMER - (AUSTRIA) 12.5%. Good and straightforward apple-lima definition of gruve./ Yeah, the right stuff. Straight down the middle. No frills and fancy stuff. 16.0.
WT092612-02. 10 CHABLIS, DOMAINE LOUIS MOREAU - (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 12%; from the vicinity of Beines. Clear, full, rightful young Chablis. Tingly./ Full flavored. This has the usual Moreau class. Young; on the ascent. 16.6+.
WT092612-03. 11 POUILLY FUISSE, NICOLAS POTEL - (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 12.5%. Racy and full textured. A smell you can feel. Youthful still. Tasted at a much earlier stage than the 2010./ Proper young Pouilly Fuisse with the lightest touch of oak. Needs a few months to develop the breadth and depth of the 2010. Well poised. 16.4+.
WT092612-04. 11 RIAS BAIXAS ALBARINO CONCERTUM, ADEGA MAREA ALTA - (SPAIN) 13%. Young, crisp, even brisk. Lovely fragrance and classic minerality. A beautiful, textbook expression of Galicia albarino. Fabulous nose./ Yes, spot on terroir and varietal character. Lots of class. Tight and right. Will grow, expand. 16.7+.
WT092612-05. 10 AFFENTALER SPATBURGUNDER, WINZ. BUHL - (GERMANY) 12.5%. A sweet and lithe, lovely Baden take on pinot noir. A crisp northern grown edge./ Soft and easy flowing. The gamy facet of pinot as well as the cherry fruit. Can be served cool. 15.7.
WT092612-06. 11 PELEE ISLAND ONTARIO CABERNET FRANC - (CANADA) 13%. Good wood toast and spice. Sweet, ripe fruit./ Yeah, sweet and right. Lovely take on cool climate cabernet franc with Loire like notions but also a character all its own. Worthy successor to the attractive 2010. 16.3+
WT092612-07. 09 CHATEAU LA TOUR DE BY, CRU BOURGEOIS, MEDOC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13.5%; 60% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 5% petit verdot. Oh, this is good! Cabernet dominant as usual. The black currant image is clear. Good and discreet oak seasonings too. In tune with the La Tour de By series Iíve followed for decades. Great poise and age potential./ Yeah, classic Medoc cabernet, gravel spawned. Good wood in tandem with the
fruit. Cru bourgeois claret class. One of the best. 16.9+.

Very classy. Spicy. In tune with the series./ Yeah, spicy oak and ripe, pitchy fruit concentration. A joyous experience. One of the best vintages of this. 17.0.

WT092612-11. 10 CHIANTI, QUERCETO - (ITALY) 12%. This oneís sweet and ripe enough, unlike quite a few 2010 Tuscan reds in this price range./ Yeah, sweet and nice. A pleasing bistro style Chianti. Easy to assimilate. Good now. 16.2.

Full and forceful./ Bold in body and texture, but still playing it close to the vest in terms of aromatics. Like many of its peers. Needs time. 16.3++.
WT092612-16. 10 VARNER FOXGLOVE PASO ROBLES ZINFANDEL - (U.S.) 14.2%. Sweet, plummy Paso fruit plus 2010 acidity. Holding back some secrets yet./ Sweet and spicy and right for 2010. Good vintage in Paso; moderates the sur maturite. 16.5.

Firm apple nose./ Big burst of flavor greets the palate. Develops range and intensity. Great texture. Perfect balance. Has it all. 16.8.
WT091912-02. 11 CHATEAU DE FONTENILLE GRAND BORDEAUX, ENTRE DEUX MERS - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 12.5%; 40% sauvignon blanc, 20% each sauvignon gris, muscadelle, semillon; proprietor Stephane Defraine @La Sauve. Nuttiness of sauvignon gris followed by a balanced and complex presentation of all four varietals. Very expressive./ Full and waxy. Good acidity in back. Not an aperitif. Take it to the table. 16.3+.

Still some reduction to resolve. Body and power and texture. Air it; give it a chance to blossom in aroma and flavor. Liked by the group. 16.2+.

True, elegant, focused, and firm Jadot styling. Young. Light oak overtones plus time in barrel dimension. Well poised./ Tannic. Gamy. Well composed for bottle development. 16.3+.

WT091212-10. 10 LISBOA LAB. CASA SANTOS LIMA - (PORTUGAL) 13%; 35% castelao, 25% tinta roriz, 25% syrah, 15% touriga nacional; aged in new Portuguese oak barrels for 4 months. Sweet, full, fruity, accomplished. Spicy too./ Yeah, raspberry pie stuff, including the spicy seeds and the baked crust. Exciting and enticing. Well liked by the group. 16.6.

WT091212-12. 09 AGLIANICO DEL VULTURE GRICOS, LUCANIA DI PICCIN FABRIZIO - (PORTUGAL) 13.5%. Wow! Ripe and rich and smooth on the approach. Warmth of the south, subtle oak toast and spice, sweet and sassy fruit./ Yeah, large, strong, ripe, forceful. As good as the 07 was, this is decidedly more-ish. 16.9+.

Oh! As always, intricate, unique, old time, warm, open./ Yeah, with some brett of old time claret and warmth of Med France. Full texture and flavor. 16.8.

WT091212-16. 10 JOEL GOTT CALIFORNIA ZINFANDEL - (U.S.) 14.4%. Sweet fruit plus Gott restraint, elegance. Nice 2010 zin./ Sweet fruited for 10. And elegant in both fruit and oak, which are well married. This works. 16.5+.
WT091212-17. 11 OPPENHEIMER SACKTRAGER RIESLING SPATLESE, DR. HEYDEN - (GERMANY) 11%. Good Hessia riesling expression. Dry on the nose, mineral laced. Classic./ Sweet in the mouth. Tender baby fat envelopes the acid; that will melt away. Long, classy finish. Nice now and later. Well liked by the group. 16.8+.
WT091212-18. TAYLOR FLADGATE FIRST ESTATE RESERVE PORTO - (PORTUGAL) 20%. Spiritous in the Taster glass. Earthy basis, cellar aroma. Black plum and peel./ Sweetness balanced by strength. Fully packed in the Taylor style. 16.5.

WT090512-01. 10 MUSCADET SEVRE ET MAINE SUR LIE HERMINE DíOR DOMAINE DE LA LOUVETRIE, JO LANDRON - (FRANCE LOIRE) 12%; from 35 year old vines. Cool, clear, fresh, full. Lovely low lying green botanicals. Very cool indeed./ Full texture and flavor. Nice cut, plus muscadetís tender side too. Textbook, really. 16.8.
WT090512-02. 10 VERDICCHIO DEI CASTELLI DI JESI CLASSICO SUPERIORE VERSIANO, AA VIGNAMATO - (ITALY) 13.5%. Full like so many of the others these days. However, this one aims to please rather than to impress. Lovely body and extract. Shades of Maconnais. Lovely apple and pear aromas./ Canít stop writing Ďlovelyí. Here itís the full feel and flavor clear of any harsh peel extract elements. Downright delicious right now.
WT090512-03. 11 MACON VILLAGES TRADITION, COLLOVRAY ET TERRIER - (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 13%. Full, wide, deep, brilliant apple, citrus, fruit peels, and walnut husk aroma. Is this walnut husk thing characteristic of 2011 Maconnais?/ Full, with a soft, tender core of 2009 and good acid and form of 2010. Thatís 2011. Pleasing acid, extract, balance, finish. 16.7.
WT090512-04. 11 RIAS BAIXAS ALBARINO, BODEGAS LA CANA - (SPAIN) 12.5%. Really quite large, dry, and mineral rich. Serious stuff for mealtime use. Not as floral as many. More apple than peach./ Good, cool apple, peach, and walnut husk. Firm, cool fruit. Medium body and texture. I expect it will offer more aromatic and textural amplitude after a few more months in bottle. 16.4+.
WT090512-05. 11 LOREDONA CALIFORNIA VIOGNIER - (U.S.) 13%. Dainty florals to start. Good grip and texture. Then the viognier aroma grows: honeysuckle, peach-apricot./ Soft for this vintage. Decent flavor concentration. Medium bodied. Appealing white peach aftertaste. 16.0.
WT090512-06. 11 DOLCETTO DíALBA COLOMBE, RENATO RATTI - (ITALY) 12.5%. Young, crisp, cool, tangy fruited. Bright, with cranberry and tart cherry aromas./ Tart and close in texture at this stage. Nonetheless, already full of flavor. Tar, licorice, peels. The 2010 was easier going when we first tasted it last April; at that point it was 8 months older than this one. No reason why this 2011 wonít soften up by the time
it reaches the same age. 16.2+.
WT090512-07. 09 OC PINOT NOIR DOMAINE DES SALICES, FRANCOIS LURTON - (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 13%; in Minervois northeast of Carcassonne; barrel aged 6 months. Tart and black Oc style of pinot noir, though this has more fruit give than many. Cherry aroma./ Pretty lean, slim, tart, dilute. Undernourished. The 2008 was much better. Why? 14.0+.
WT090512-08. 09 BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR VIEILLES VIGNES, MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE - (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 13%; vines 56-88 years old; barrel aged 15 months; unfined, unfiltered; made by Nicolas Potel. Very elegant take. 09 crisp. Potel finesse and Volnay leanings. Light oak touch./ Well balanced. Burgundy pinot fruit peel, 09 form and grip. Good extract and tannin. Cellar. 16.7+.
WT090512-09. 11 COTES DU RHONE LES TROIS COURONNES, LE CELLIER DE TROIS COURONNES - (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 13.5%; at Tulette; 80% grenache, 20% syrah. Dry vinosity and Med red fruit set. These 2011s tasted to date need time to sweeten up./ More give and plushness on the palate. Even some glycerol. Well balanced. The flavor is right, if still low key, showing red fruit and peppercorn. Bistro weight Cotes du Rhone. 15.9+.
WT090512-10. 11 PIEMONTE BARBERA OTTONE I, CANTINE SAN SILVESTRO - (ITAL) 13%. Well, very plump and expressive after the Cotes du Rhone. Lots of black fruit and black pepper of barbera./ Sweet fruit and glycerol. Fine acidity, fine balance. One of the best vintages of this. 16.3+.
WT090512-11. 11 MORELLINO DI SCANSANO BELLAMARSILIA, POGGIO ARGENTIERA - (ITALY) 13.5%; 85% sangiovese, 10% ciliegiolo, 5% alicante. Young, cool, and fresh, playing youth and reduction against morellino sweet cherry. It works even now and will get better./ Yeah, both cool and ripe facets, plus lots of morellino spice. Fine acid and texture. Cherry aftertaste. Amazing and unique. 16.6+.
WT090512-12. 10 SICILIA NERO DíAVOLA STEMMARI, FEUDO ARANCIO - (ITALY) 13.5%. Sweet and right for region and variety. Still 2010 firm and peels oriented./ The palateís all about appeal though. Sweet fruit, with glycerol too. Lovely, tangy fruit charm in the back. Cherry sourball. Ho, hum, just another good Arancio nero. Each one has a vintage tale to tell too. 16.2+.
WT090512-13. 11 BODEGA RENACER PUNTO FINAL PERDRIEL MALBEC - (ARGENTINA) 14%; vines over 50 years old; French oak aged. Fresh and modern. Still some reduction. Air and age./ Yea, terse and confined. Very narrow compared to vintages tasted after more bottle age. Really needs air and age. 14.8+.
WT090512-14. 10 SAINT DREZERY - LANGUEDOC PRESTIGE, CHATEAU PUECH HAUT - (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 15%. Wow! French form and reserve, race and elegance. Plus subtle oak spices and full black fruit. Flashy but not modern or international at all. Well crafted./ Wow! Sweet and sexy spices with sweet fruit, size, and fabulous acid. Grand Vin. 17.6+.
WT090512-16. 10 FETZER SHALY LOAM CALIFORNIA GEWURZTRAMINER - (U.S.) 12%. Well, this is different from the Valley Oaks cuvee tasted a few months ago. Much, much better. Sweet and gingery. Like the old reliables of past vintages./ Spicy and off dry. Soft acid of gewurz and California. Good value. 16.0.
WT090512-17. 11 CHATEAU STE. MICHELLE HARVEST SELECT SWEET COLUMBIA VALLEY RIESLING - (U.S.) 10%; medium sweet - IRF scale. Nice and spicy. Cedar./ Yeah, cedar and spice. Great acid, verve. Balanced. Juicy. Fabulous. 16.7.
WT090512-18. 07 TAYLOR FLADGATE LATE BOTTLED VINTAGE PORTO - (PORTUGAL) 20%; bottled 2012. Wow! Big and spirituous like a Vintage Porto. A real powerhouse of an LBV./ Sweet, strong, loaded with extract. Hasnít filled out as much as the 2005 yet, which was first tasted after an extra year in the bottle. It has the makings of that grand wine. Patience required. 17.2++.
