WT112818-02. 17 BOWERS HARBOR UNWOODED MICHIGAN CHARDONNAY - (U.S. MICHIGAN) 12%. Cool and mild. Understated varietal character. Certainly won‛t offend./ Same. Just plain good unwooded chardonnay. Not too dry or tart. Wide appeal. 15.5.
WT112818-03. 17 CHABLIS, DOMAINE FELIX FOULLEY - (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 12.5%. True, flinty, stark Chablis take on chardonnay. Classic, and right down the middle. The winemaker has a light touch./ Good acid and grip. Reflects on the AOC. Balanced and food worthy. Versatile. Liked by the group. Certainly a value. 16.6.

This is from a ‛difficult‛ vintage? No issues here. Buoyant claret./ Up front sweet fruit that‛s persistent. The right sweet-acid balance. Easy to put to use now. Versatile. Yes; bravo! 16.6.

WT112818-07. 15 CAMPANIA AGLIANICO MASTRO, MASTROBERARDINO - (ITALY) 12.5%; aged 4 months in French oak. 2015 sweet. Light oak patina and barrel age influence. Pretty easy going aglianico, this vintage./ Very easy, soft, gentle. Traditionalist Mastroberardino ventures into the arena of early-to-drink rosso. Decent acidity for balance. 16.0.

Nice saint george sweet red fruit, open and revealing./ Yes, come hither, easy. With all that sweet fruit, there‛s still an herbal streak running through it that is sure to satisfy Europhiles. 16.1.

So generous./ Yes, sweet and strong and concentrated. Now come forth great barrel qualities of oak, caramel, char. Full concentration here. Lots to offer. 17.1+.
WT112818-13. 15 LANGE TWINS CARICATURE OLD VINE LODI ZINFANDEL - (U.S. WEST COAST) 14.9%; wife of one of the twins is from Chelsea MI. Sweet, up front Lodi ID. Deep, rich, and giving. Nothing superficial about it./ Cremes alluring. Not sticky or sloppy. Oak and power in harmony for framing and filling and sense of completeness. The best facets of Lodi zinfandel. 16.4.
WT112818-14. 17 VOUVRAY, MARCEL DUBOIS - (FRANCE LOIRE) 11.5%. Oh, well, this is a rightful demi sec Vouvray with quince, lime, and calcaire qualities in harmony./ Yes, with the right acid to balance its light sweetness. Just right. Some kind of value! 16.7.
WT112818-15. TAYLOR FLADGATE CHIP DRY EXTRA DRY WHITE PORTO - (FORTIFIED) 20%; the original dry white port, created in 1934. Dry, woody, and distinct from the other, sweeter, fruitier white portos./ Near dry, and powerful. Spirit driven. The mix is right. As the label suggest, take this with tonic or club soda.16.3.

WT111918-1. 18 BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU, ALBERT BICHOT - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 12.5%. A very fresh, fruity, floral, fabulously forthcoming Nouveau aroma. Pushing from fermentation to fruit fulfilled status./ Yes, exceptionally bright and juicy, with soft and tender beguile. Bichot‛s always makes a welcoming hand introduction to the latest Nouveau vintage. 16.6.
WT111918-2. 18 BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU, GEORGES DUBOEUF - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 12.5%. By comparison, drier and shyer. No issues here; just a little reticent in youth. Give it more aeration./ Less fruity and spontaneous, more withdrawn. Decant to kick-start the aromatics. 15.9+.
WT111918-3. 18 BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU, ANTONIN RODET - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 12.5%. This is always firmer, deeper, blacker. It will benefit from aeration too. And perhaps a couple weeks‛ more bottle age, as there are fermentation aromatic residuals yet./ Yes, the fruit is dark, and the wine will improve steadily into the holiday season. True to the style of past Rodet Nouveaux. 16.0+
WT111918-4. 18 BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU, DOMAINE CHATELUS DE LA ROCHE - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 12.5%. The wildly popular ‛yellow rooster‛ Nouveau also would appreciate a couple more weeks in bottle to resolve its ‛banana and bubble gum‛ fermentation leftovers. Still, it‛s fresh and full of fruit, and seems larger, broader, and deeper than all that have come before. Comes on with aeration; becomes really giving./ Full, rich, textured, complete. 16.7.
WT111918-5. 18 BEAUJOLAIS PRIMEUR DOMAINE DU VISSOUX, PIERRE MARIE CHERMETTE - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 13%. Less Nouveau like than the others. More like a first year Beaujolais wine. Rich and real young gamay nose./ Oh, rich and round, large and suave, ripe and complete. 16.9.
WT111918-6. 18 BEAUJOLAIS VILLAGES NOUVEAU, ALBERT BICHOT - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 13%. Parallels the style of Bichot‛s effusive Beaujolais Nouveau, only shows more power and oomph. And that granite-schist Villages terroir of northern Beaujolais./ Oh, big and juicy. Grand. Just surging forth. Yes! 16.8.
WT111918-7. 18 BEAUJOLAIS VILLAGES NOUVEAU, GEORGES DUBOEUF - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 13%. Decidedly more-ish than the Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau. More power and give. More forthcoming./ Before a firm background, this really puts forth a lot of dark, deep Villages gamay fruit. 16.2+.
WT111918-8. 18 BEAUJOLAIS VILLAGES NOUVEAU, DOMAINE ROCHETTE - (FRANCE BURGUNDY (BEAUJOLAIS)) 13%. Always the big boy of the lot. Decidedly fuller than the others. But more backward./ Yes, the biggest in fruit material, texture, and grip. This really deserves decanting and/or a few more weeks in the cellar. Awesome Villages Nouveau. 17.0+.
WT111918-9. 16 WEINLAND ZWEIGELT, WEINGUT HOFER liter - (AUSTRIA) 12.5%; organic. Fresh, but basically vinous. Medium bodied. More fruit forms with aeration./ Tasty, easy flowing, cool, good. Chill it lightly and take to the table for a versatile mealtime quaffer. 16.2.

WT111918-11. 15 WEINLAND ZWEIGELT, WEINGUT ECKER liter - (AUSTRIA) 12.5%. More fruit personality and sweetness here. Likely, the riper vintage and extra year of age play roles./ Great acid for 2015. Clarity, fruit, value. The real deal. Stock this one. 16.6.
WT111918-12. 15 NIEDEROSTERREICH ZWEIGELT AUSTRIAN CHERRY, PFAFFL - (AUSTRIA) 12.5%. Rich, and even more giving yet. Delivers./ Yes, juicy, sweet, peppery, full fruited. Yes. A contender for shelf space. 16.6.
WT111918-13. 15 NIEDEROSTERREICH ZWEIGELT, WEINGUT HERMANN MOSER - (AUSTRIA) 13%. Whoa, soars and sings. Full fruited, with spicy-peppery extras as well as herb notes, especially thyme./ Yes, a surge of varietal fruit, herb, and spices flavors. Fine juice, acid, tannin. Paints the complete picture. Stock this one for sure. 16.7.
WT111918-14. 14 NIEDEROSTERREICH ZWEIGELT. HUGL-WIMMER liter - (AUSTRIA) 13%. Firm and dry. Not much nose./ Sweet and lithe. Rather dilute. Still, has integrity. A lesser contender though. Due to age, vintage? New vintage on the way; should give it a chance.15.3.

WT111418-1. 15 CHATEAU BEL-AIR LACLOTTE, BORDEAUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13.5%; Stephan Motut at Saint Gervais. Good, sweet, ripe-vintage claret nose. Merlot softness plus the firmer, darker fruit of the cabernets./ Yes, 2015 sweet and claret delineated, well framed. Some tannin to shed. Will age nicely in the mid term. Well priced. 16.2+.
WT111418-2. 15 CHATEAU MOULIN DE L'ESPERANCE, BORDEAUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13.5%; Cholet at Saint Radegonde; 75% merlot, 25% cab franc. Sweeter even, and lovely. Merlot cherry emphasis as always here. Open hearted, but also classically formed./ Yes! Sweet cherry flavor, great acid. Long and inviting. Orders taken. 16.3.
WT111418-3. 14 CHATEAU MALBEC, BORDEAUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 14%; Du Lort at Yvrac; Decanter WWA Platinum Medal - 95/100. Deeper and darker. Barrel aging enters the picture. More substance. Good, rich 2014, competitive and upscale, with barrel time and extract sophistication./ Yes, size, grip, barrel extras, body, texture. Loaded. 16.7+.
WT111418-4. 14 CHATEAU TOUR PRIGNAC, CRU BOURGEOIS, MEDOC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13.5%; largest single vineyard in the Medoc: 315 acres. Oh, boy, big time Medoc cabernet body plus full oak complement. Wow, this is complex./ Dark, full of fruit material and oak bonuses. Grand. 17.1+.
WT111418-5. 15 CHATEAU MIQUEU, CRU BOURGEOIS, HAUT MEDOC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 12.5%; Ferre & Haut Brignais at Vertheuil. 2015 sweet enough, but more restrained than the above 2015s due to higher cabernet sauvignon content. Young and dark. Sweetens up with aeration to reveal berry, cherry, spice./ Yes, cabernet firm figured. Not as many oak embellishments as in the above pair. Very good, solid, young Haut Medoc claret to put in the cellar. 16.5+.
WT111418-6. 15 CHATEAU LIEUJEAN, CRU BOURGEOIS, HAUT MEDOC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13%; Garri du Gai at Saint Sauveur; 75% cab sauv, 25% merlot. Similarly sweet; less dark fruited. Open, fruity, spicy, revealing. Comes on even stronger with aeration./ Claret body. Full of good, spicy fruit. Balanced, suave. 16.5+.
WT111418-7. 15 CHATEAU HAUT-CADET, GRAND CRU, SAINT EMILION - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13.5%; Famille de Gaye; northwest sector near Pomerol; 80% merlot, 15% cab franc, 5% cab sauv. Large, generous plateau Saint Emilion display. Good oak seasoning, sophistication./ Really Grand Cru size, thoroughness. Saint Emilion roundness. Big time. 17.0+.
WT111418-8. 15 CHATEAU LA GRANGE CLINET GRANDE RESERVE, COTES DE BORDEAUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 14%; at Saint Caprais; 68% merlot, 17% cab sauv, 15% cab franc. Very sweet fruit. The sweetest 2015 yet in this set. Light oak savor./ Yes, rich and full 2015 fruit that‛s delicious, and nicely countered by good acidity and very fine grained tannins. Like the highly rated 2014 of this, first class. 16.6+.

Very deep and rich Argentine cabernet./ Yes, delicious fruit and spice melange. Well balanced and smooth tasting; invites current use. Multi purpose too. 16.7.
WT111418-11. 16 SANTA RITA 120 RESERVA ESPECIAL VALLE CENTRAL SYRAH - (CHILE) 13.5%.. Sweet and good and wholesome Chilean syrah. True to the northern Rhone aromatic set, but New World sweeter./ Yes, very alluring fruit sweetness that‛s sooo easy to assimilate. What a deal! 16.3

Bright, with spicy mourvedre dark fruit tempered by five years‛ barrel and bottle bouquet formation. Sweet and powerful. Wears its alcohol well./ Balanced, suave, sweet, and mourvedre cool. Fine tannin. Rich, round, and spicy finale. Well priced. 17.1+.

WT111418-14. 15 MOSEL RIESLING SPATLESE, HEINZ EIFEL - (GERMANY) 7.5%; Anne Eifel-Spohr, winemaker. Fresh, crisp, and bright. High extract of 2014 Mosel riesling. Full of appley fruit./ Very juicy. Fine balance of sweetness and acidity. Yes, thoroughly balanced and delicious. 16.7.

Nice 16 textural burnish./ Light malo and oak touches. Balanced, even handed. Pleasing roundness points to current usefulness. Very popular with the group. 16.7.
WT110718-2. 17 BOURGUEIL LIEU DIT BEAUREGARD, CAVE ROBERT ET MARCEL - (FRANCE LOIRE) 12.5%; sand and gravel soils. Pretty and bright. Joyous. With Loire cabernet franc tart edge./ Yes, sweet-tart, green and red fruit. Euro for sure. The finish has forgivingly soft and sweet touches. 16.2.
WT110718-3. 17 BOURGUEIL CUVEE ALOUETTES, DOMAINE DE LA CHANTELEUSERIE - (FRANCE LOIRE) 13%; est. 1822. Nice ripe red raspberry Loire cabernet franc aroma. Spicy savor and lift./ Yes, this is riper and fruitier. Sweeter fruit. 16.5.
WT110718-4. 16 CHATEAU LAMOTHE CASTERA CUVEE MARGAUX, BORDEAUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13%; 85% cab sauv, 15% merlot; Gold Medal - G&G. Lacks the ripeness of the warmer 2015 vintage‛s version of this wine. Cabernet sauvignon grown in this neck of the woods needs the heat./ Yeah, greenish taste too. This received a gold medal. What am I missing? Is it at an awkward stage? 15.3+?

A solid, quality Graves claret featuring light oak and classic Graves earthiness./ Yes, admirable oak embellishments to a traditional Graves style. Always a reliable source for both red and white wines. 16.4+.
WT110718-6. 10 CHATEAU BARRAIL DESTIEU, SAINT EMILION - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 14%. Tight-knit, dry, traditional. Still 2010 firm. Not yet Saint Emilion giving. Flairs of oak enter the picture after aeration./ Well, Saint Emilion sweet fruit is evident on the palate. Yet to develop bottle bouquet at age eight. Well priced, but to get the full value, cellar it further. 16.6+.
WT110718-7. 17 ESPANA VENTA MORALES, BODEGAS VOLVER - (SPAIN) 14%. Some green fruit here. Not a particularly good vintage of this. Usually richer, riper, more generous. Is the change of denominacion from La Mancha to Espana part of the story?/ Sweet, cheap, kinda juggy. Too bad. Ends a run of commendable vintages and values here. 14.2.
WT110718-8. 16 YECLA MONASTRELL, FAMILIA CASTANO - (SPAIN) 13%. Sweet and spicy and soaring. Good year for this. No roti, no jammy fruit. Fresh, cool, peppery mourvedre./ Again, a fine take on mourvedre, full of purple fruit and cracked pepper. Fine balance of sweetness and acidity. 16.6.
WT110718-9. C.V.C. RIOJA GRAN FAMILIA, CASTILLO DE FUENMAYOR - (SPAIN) 12.5%. CVC Rioja comes from more than one vintage, usually two or three adjacent years. Shows maturity in both barrel and bottle. Mellow, savory, ready to enjoy, That‛s the beauty of CVC./ Yeah, sweet fruit, and mellow, spicy seasoning from barrel age. Rangy and fully meal worthy. 16.4.
WT110718-10. 15 MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO, AGR. TIBERIO - (ITALY) 14%. Deep red violet color./ Cool, reductive airs, including montepulciano‛s inherent violets. Sweet fruit core. Lots of material here. Needs more bottle age./ Deep purple fruit. Air it good. It‛s introverted. The quality potential is here. 16.2++.

Deep, purple Visan fruit, sweet and peppery. Cool and racy. Real Visan./ Close in youth Fine fruit tannins. Needs more bottle age to allow additional aromatics and textures to form. 16.5+.
WT110718-12. 17 COTES DU RHONE CUVEE ROMAINE, DOMAINE LA GARRIGUE - (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 15%. Purple fruited, lightly reductive 2017. Deeper; more power and material./ Large in the mouth. The fruit seems not as accomplished yet as in some vintages. We‛re tasting this awfully early in life, earlier than usual. Keep an eye on it. 16.4+.
