Richer than usual. Tutti-frutti./ Dry and full. Great acid. Even a little tannic grip and dry extract. Wow! Impressive. More than just a quaff. 91+/100.

Well accomplished, well developed thanks to the early harvest. No banana fermentation odor. All berry. And berry pulp thanks to no filtration./ Ripe, and ready to go. This is wine, not fermented grape juice. Full, meaty, complete. Fine, fruity, youthful, vigorous, all. 93+/100.

Clearly some sauvignon musque in the makeup./ Oak becomes evident on the palate. Very powerful impression, even at 13.5%. Unique amongst its Napa sauvignon peers. Food wine. 16.4.

More development and less richness than the 2012 sampled last week. Understandable. Damn good wine too./ With less rich fruit, oak and alcohol stand out more. Dry and powerful. Great at the table. Europhiles in the group preferred the 2011. 16.9.

Feel wise, semillon bulk, sauvignon briskness, muscadelle ventilation./ Pleasing body and balance if not a lot of flavor character showing yet. Mealworthy;a lot of our customers would like this at the table. 16.3+.

Sweet, rounding glycerol of dried fruit. Everything in order./ Fruit flavor, fruit acidity. Dark fruit of 2012. Promise. Altogether good guy. 16.6+.

WT111115-8. KAKHETI SAPERAVI, OLD TBILISI - (GEORGIA) 13%. Youthful color. Bright red violet./ Dark fruited. More vinous than fruity. Good peels extract. I like the presentation./ Good acid. Not a lot of fruit, but plenty of material. Food-worthy. Old time variety and a good rendition of it. Some tannin for aging. For hearty fare. A pleasant surprise, and not sweet like a lot of Eastern European reds. 16.1+.

WT111115-9. 14 NORMA JEAN PASO ROBLES MERLOT - (U.S.) 13.5%; 17th edition. Paso rich and sweet. 2014 fine lines, elegance, fine framing. Not pandering./ Paso sweet. Tutti-frutti. Some age potential. Merlot and Paso together make for a mild mannered wine. It works.. 16.0+.

WT111115-10. 13 MONTSANT MAS DONIS BARRICA OLD VINES, CELLER DE CAPCANES - (SPAIN) 14%. Powerful, full bodied, rangy. Not quite of Priorat grandeur, but for Montsant, this shows a lot of bells and whistles./ Young, but already sweet and revealing. Power rightly contained. 2013 frame. Impressive balance of strength, sweetness, and acid. Understated oak makes a fine seasoning. Long finish. Perfectly proportioned for mealtime use already. Will likely age very nicely too. Crown achievement. 17.0+.

Straight on and lovely fruit tone./ Some peels dryness and astringency to keep it honest and a good mealtime wine. Consistently attractive value. 16.2.

No peppercorn or garrigue of a good southern Rhone./ Plain Jane, straight on red wine of vinosity. Blurred varietal statements. Sweetish. Now made by men in suits. Commercial. The $10 closeout price is fair. Will likely improve with age. Not bad. 16.1+.

More striking Euro acidity. 2011 revealing./ 2D and narrow in aromatic range. Correct; vintage focused. May be in a trough at age 4. Good balance, acid, foodworthiness. Hopefully more complexity to come. 16.0+.

Certainly surpasses the volume norm of the vintage. This one goes to eleven. Blockbuster for its mass. And has quite a lot of aromatic interest as well./ Sweet and succulent; wears its alcohol well. A big boy. Very impressive. 17.0+.
