WT052919-02. 17 CUSTOZA, AZ. AGR. GORGO - (ITALY) 12.5%. Mellow. Delicately scented like, say, a chenin blanc./ Light lemon creme flavor. Nice texture. All around balance and appeal. Flavor not only lasts, it builds. 16.7.

WT052919-04. 18 CHATEAU DUCASSE, BORDEAUX BLANC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 12%. Good, clear, crisp, full, grassy nose. Perfect poise./ Plump on the approach, with good acid and lime peel cut. One of the best of the series, and one of the earliest to fulfillment. 16.7.

WT052919-05. 18 CHATEAU GRAVILLE LACOSTE, GRAVES BLANC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 12%.. Fuller. More semillon, and with semillon's propensity to retain sulphur dioxide, that's still a factor, etching the nostrils./ Sweet fruited, round, and full, with Graves semillon terroir. Juicy and lasting. SO2 not messing with the palate, so you can serve it now after aeration. 16.6+.

WT052919-07. 18 CARMIGNANO ROSE VIN RUSPO BARCO REALE, FATTORIA AMBRA - (ROSE) 13%; 75% sangiovese, 10% canaiolo, 10% cab sauv, 5% merlot. Full. A bit earthy. Not fruity and alluring./ Full but doesn't dazzle. Seems high pH and saline. Time? 15.8+.

WT052919-08. 17 BARDOLINO, AZ. AGR. GORGO - (ITALY) 12.5%. Full and fruity, but beginning to turn vinous with age./ Very sweetly fruity and full for Bardolino. Still, conventionally cool though. But it's getting a little tarry with age. 15.9.

WT052219-09. 16 CHATEAU LES GRANDES MOTTES, BLAYE - COTES DE BORDEAUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13.5%. Good and full for Blaye 2016. Not as ripe as the 2015, as expected. Delivers 2016 reserve, potential./ More vinous than fruity at this stage. Full bodied and well balanced. Cellar it awhile. 16.4+.

WT052219-10. 16 CHATEAU LA HOURCADE, MEDOC - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 12.5%; at Jau Dignac & Loirac. Well, how about this. Sweet, ripe, barrel influenced. I wouldn‛t have discovered this if a customer hadn‛t ordered some. I mean, this is from the extreme north of Medoc, where the gravel fetters out. Well, now! Goes to show you never can tell./ Sweet and fruity. Subtle oak. Good 16 acidity, balance. 16.6+.

WT052219-11. 16 CHATEAU LA BERNEDE GRAND POUJEAUX, MOULIS - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13%; second wine of Chateau Dutruch Grand Poujeaux, Cru Bourgeois. Sweet black fruit with light, sweet oak aura. Well crafted in the 2016 style./ Lots of everything: oak, extract, concentration, tannin, fruit density. A whopper of a second wine. The best of 2016 attributes enhanced by winemaker craftsmanship. This sleeper was the talk of Bordeaux‛s brokers in 2016. No wonder! 16.8+.

WT052219-12. 16 MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO, BADIA ALLE CORTI - (ITALY) 12%. Bright and racy, with a cedar or other aromatic wood overtone. Even better than the impressive 2015. 2016 silk texture and reserve./ Oh, sweet and woody-spicy. Persistent fruit and ‛wood‛ taste. Deal! 16.7.

Deep, large, full textured. Villages size. Sweet, spicy, dark fruit./ Suave, sweetly fruited, with light acid etch. Fits the 2016 pattern. 16.7+.

And great acidity too. Singular, always./ Paso sweetness and Varner cut. Overtones of aromatic woods. Suave texture. 16.6.

Usually so appealing and reliable in earlier vintages. Just in need of bottle age? I mean, am I missing something? Orders were taken. 14.0+?

Not fully integrated yet, and leaving some bitterness on the finish. Ambitious aligote that will improve with cellaring. 16.3+.

WT050819-07. 16 FIANO DI AVELLINO, AZ. AGR. DI MARZO - (ITALY) 12.5%. Deep and full textured. Not very honeyed though. Well, some, plus good acidity./ Yes, good acid but not very much flavor or body. More to come? Prefer the greco at this stage. 16.2+?

WT050819-10. 17 SICILIA NERO D'AVOLA ASMODEUS, POGGIO ANIMA - (ITALY) 13%. Similar to the Toscana for its crisp, fresh style. Darker cherry fruit of nero. Similarly structured. Good formula here./ More flow, less grip and texture. I like for its fruit clarity, sweetness, flavor. Logical. 16.4.

WT050819-11. 17 FRANCAIS PINOT NOIR GRAND RESERVE, ROBERT DEBUISSON - (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 12.5%. Fresh, cool, medium bodied, northern. Seems like it's from the Burgundy area. Becomes darker and richer, sweeter and fuller with aeration. Quality pinot./ Good acid. Really good for food. Northern coolness, crispness. Lithe styling of 2017. 16.2.

Deep, dry, and Naples fresh and brisk versus a Basilicata aglianico. Sweet 2015 ripeness too./ Yes, pepper and other spices, licorice, black fruit. Melted tannins. 17.0+.

Plenty of impact. Won't be denied./ Sweet and woody. Good assemblage of zinfandels from several growing areas. Plenty of power and delivery. 16.6.

WT050819-15. PINEAU DES CHARENTES ROUGE, DEAU - (APERITIF) 17%; aged in oak barrels. Wow! This is good! Heady spirit in Taster glass. Well aged Cognac impression, like Deau's VS solo. Sweet red fruit. Ideal./ All over again. Pineau sweet grape juice. No red fruit tannin as in some. Just red fruit character combined with fine, aged spirit. Altogether rich and balanced. 17.5.

A proper pinot blanc with wide mealtime applications./ The palate displays more fruit. Attractive pinot blanc ripe acidity. Not a flashy wine and varietal, just benchmark and mealworthy. 16.6.
