Wood aged, but not too heavy handed for a Maconnais chardonnay to handle./ Good French oak; just right. Will age well. Large scale Pouilly Fuisse that works. Some oak tannin, astringency yet. Promising. 17.1+.

Grand Cru amplitude too./ Rich and well balanced. Rochette is a great source. Perfect Cote de Brouilly posture. Tangy acid, full texture and extract. 17.2.

WT122914-07. 12 J. LOHR ESTATES SOUTH RIDGE PASO ROBLES SYRAH - (U.S.) 13.5%. Richer and less elegant than the 2011. Less northern Rhone syrah like. More California. More American oak showing at this early age (we tasted the 2011 only a couple of weeks ago). Yes, toffee and brown spices. Nice./ Sweet, suave oak and Paso fruit. Much different in style from the 2011. Attractive in its own right. 16.3+.

Nice wood too./ Yes, spicy wood. Light gaminess. Good acid. Fine, dry tannins. Fatness too. QED, great textural play. 17.0+.
