WT082819-13. 14 BAIRRADA RESERVA, TORRE DE COIMBRA - (PORTUGAL) 13%; touriga nacional, baga, alfrocheiro. Oh, yeah, the reserve‛s the one. Lots more personality than the unoaked version above. This has oak, barrel time bouquet, bottle bouquet. Gives and gives./ Yes, so much more complex, generous, and forthcoming. Good acidity too. Complete. 17.2.

WT082819-14. 14 DAO RESERVA, PEDRA CANCELA - (PORTUGAL) 14%; 80% touriga nacional, 10% each tinta roriz, alfrocheiro; aged 6 months in French oak barrels. Sweet, rich, complete, powerful. No 14 restraints here. Nice oak and barrel age./ All over again. Fabulous texture, body, flavor, form, and filling. 17.4.

WT081419-01. 18 PFALZ RIESLING TROCKEN, DR. VON BASSERMANN-JORDAN - (GERMANY) 12%. Fresh and pungent but understated compared to the 16. Dense enough but still aromatically quiet./ Again, it's texturally stimulating but not yet flavorful. The 16 was tasted when it was seven months old. Let's give this 18 a chance to catch up. 16.2+.

WT081419-02. 18 POUILLY FUME VIEILLES VIGNES, REGIS MINET - (FRANCE LOIRE) 13%. Pungent yet subtle. Pouilly Fume peachy and penetrating./ Zesty, zingy, challenging. Very well textured. Star qualities all around. 17.1.

WT081419-06. 17 BERGERAC, CHATEAU LES MIAUDOUX - (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 14%; half each merlot, cab sauv. Richly fruited, with a unique earthy quality too. Zesty, tangy fruit acidity tingles the nostrils./ Full flavor and richness foiled by racy acidity. Full body, fine tannins. Whoa. 16.9.

WT081419-07. 18 BARBERA D'ASTI TASMORCAN, ELIO PERRONE - (ITALY) 14.5%. Very uplifting, crisp, and bright. Better managed this vintage than was the 2016, which got a little over the top./ Roundness and fruit richness balanced by acidity. Bountiful fruit flavor. 16.7.

WT081419-08. 18 VISAN COTES DU RHONE VILLAGE, DOMAINE DE LA BASTIDE - (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 14%; 40% grenache, 40% 'shiraz', 20% mourvedre. Fresh, Villages full and pithy red fruits with racy acid foil./ Light grip of fine tannin simply adds texture to its richness and range. Ready to take to the table. Remarkable how Bastide does this every year. A most generous bargain in Villages size Cotes du Rhone requiring no cellaring. 16.5.

WT081419-09. 17 COTES DU RHONE CUVEE VINCENT, DOMAINE DE CHATEAUMAR - (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 13.9%; all syrah from 45+ year old vines on two parcels bordering Chateauneuf du Pape. Wow, dramatic fullness of black fruits. Ideal syrah of the south./ Full glycerol and power make for a mouth filling and coating experience. Makes up in southern Rhone syrah heft what it lacks in northern Rhone syrah perfumes. 16.6.

Oh, wow, garrigue and cracked pepper all over the place. That's Espigouette! Fully swollen with power and material./ Yes, the whole picture of fruit, garrigue, and terroir. Sweet, rangy, and sizeable. 16.9.

Oh, the raspberry ripeness of the best zinfandels and the cracked seed foil./ Yes, sweet, peppery varietal character complemented by attractive oak seasonings. Complete Mendocino zinfandel...as usual. 17.4.
