The softness of the south. Cool, green fruit fragrance of colombard and sweet stone fruit assets of gros manseng./ Oh, yes, the gros manseng really comes through this vintage, giving this the personality of Gascogne's late harvest blancs while maintaining its true dryness. 17.0.

WT081518-2. 17 ALTO ADIGE PINOT GRIGIO, CANTINA TRAMIN - (ITALY) 13%. This 2017 sings too. Sweet and well textured./ Yes, smooth on entry with good back acid. No youthful astringency, so it's good to go. 16.6.

WT081518-3. 17 RIAS BAIXAS ALBARINO, ADEGAS MORGADIO - (SPAIN) 12.5%. Scented. Lime and green melon and honeysuckle. Sweet stone fruits too. Right on target./ Palate less developed and forthcoming. Well balanced presentation but low key in flavor and texture yet. A few more weeks in bottle will work wonders. 16.6+.

WT081518-4. 17 SARDEGNA VERMENTINO COSTAMOLINO, ARGIOLAS - (ITALY) 14%. Scented. Still some fermentation residual under screwcap. Has the goods./ Yeah, shy. Maybe from travel. But feel the power. I'm impress with that. Will make it table-worthy. Let it rest up and build up a few more weeks. 16.2+

WT081518-13. 15 WINKELER GUTENBERG RIESLING KABINETT HALBTROCKEN, WEINGUT KRAYER - (GERMANY) 10.5%. Good only. Seems in a trough like many a 2015 riesling at age three. Light riesling fruit. No resin./ Correct and pleasing, but light and modest overall at this stage. 16.2+.

Spicy oak segment too. A deal, Nice Graves claret, for sure./ Deep fruit sweetness. Good claret acid, Graves black earth. Wine of place at a handsome price. 16.5+.

With aeration, this earns similar succulence./ A bit thin and tart at this stage. Will it fill out? 2016 should have produced riper fruit than 2015. 16.0+.
