(WT070820-01) CARTIZZE VALDOBBIADENE SUPERIORE, CANTINE UMBERTO BORTOLOTTI  $29.99
07/08/20 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (ITALY) 11.5%; est. 1947; Marc de Grazia selection. Sweet and gentle on the nose. The mousse is very fine, and the glera aroma of apple, and even baked apple in a Cartizze, is spot on./ As usual, Cartizze is more extra dry than brut. Good acidity performs a balancing act, and the extra fine mousse lifts it above the fray. A classy prosecco. 17.1.

- (ITALY) 12.5%. That's an elegant, completely formed, and crystal clear arneis aroma. Light stone fruit and flowers./ Bright acidity and citricity on the palate. Not one of the more viscous ones, this is dry, clear, lithe, engaging, and refreshing. 16.7.

07/08/20 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 13%; 60% roussanne, 20% grenache, 20% viognier. Roussanne roundness, padding, and some roussanne peachiness. Grenache dryness, foundation. Airs of viognier honeysuckle. Well crafted./ Dry and quite full. Roussanne and grenache basis. Good acidity. Dash of viognier astringency. These have proven ageworthy, but I think I'd like to use this 2019 in its first year. 16.3.

(WT070820-08) 2018 BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR, DOMAINE FOURREY  $19.99
07/08/20 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 13%; grown in the Chablis area. The nose pleases. It's fresh, crisp, bright, and northern leaning. Sweet red cherry. The vintage carries this. It might be too lean and tart in a cold vintage./ Yes, plenty of fruit ripeness with northern-grown temperance. Balanced, flavorful, lasting. Very popular with the group. Orders taken. 16.4.

(WT070820-09) 2018 COSTIERES DE NIMES AUZAN, CHATEAU L'ERMITAGE  $12.99
07/08/20 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 14%; 40% mourvedre, 40% syrah, 20% grenache. Wow, is this spicy! Clove-cinnamon spice drops. Can't ID any of the varietal components., though plenty of sweet fruit is evident./ Spice more subdued on the palate and leans toward cracked peppercorns, both black and green. The dark fruited mourvedre takes the lead. Good acidity and grip. Something off the grill would be appropriate. 16.3.
