A fair degree of en tirage bottle bouquet and original fruit./ The acidity is really tart and citrusy. Doughy autolysis flavors come along. All around good guy. 16.6.

Stimulating, penetrating sauvignon citrus hovering over marly semillon grounds./ Full body of semillon and acidity of sauvignon. Really a pretty substantial dry white Bordeaux wine. Chewy finish. Plenty of material here. 16.3.

- (FRANCE ROSE) 12.5%; limestone, marl, & flint soils; 30-35 yr old vines. Oh, my, what a beautiful pinot rose aroma! Earth-berries (strawberries) and terroir. Distinct from Sancerre pinot roses./ The flavor intensity and beauty is fully up to the aroma. Very racy texture. Lasting, strawberry shortcake finish. This was supposed to be shipped to me last summer. I'm happy for the delay! 17.0.

- (FRANCE BURGINDY) 12.5%; from the vicinity of Maconnais. This has sweetened up and filled out nicely since last tasted a little over a year ago. Still conveys that 2017 levity and ease./ Yes, the palate has broadened too. Adequate acidity, very little tannin. Red wine for fish. 16.3.

- (ITALY) 13.5%; est. 1995. Oh, this is a deep seated, traditional one. Cherry, tar, rose. Black stuff. Stubbornness of the vintage./ Yeah, lots of extract and tannin. No concessions to modernity. Plenty of material. Plenty of potential. 17.1+.

- (ITALY) 13.5%; aged 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. Well, this is everything one could want in a 21012 Brunello..Lots of fruit, volume, stamina. Plenty enough to handle its long barrel sojourn adroitly. Rich, black fruited 2012 now earning a modicum of bottle bouquet./ Yes, this a richness and race balance and depth. Great acidity. Fine grained tannins to melt still. 17.8+.

- (SOUTH AFRICA) 14%; shiraz, cab sauv, malbec, merlot, petit verdot, pinotage. Aged 12 months in 1/3 each new, second year, and third year French oak barrels. Large and ripe, complicated, well wooded New World red. A lot of range and give./ Flavors have even greater clarity and range. Melted tannins. Competes above its price level. This surprised and pleased the Euro-oriented tasting panel. 16.8+.

- (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 15%; at Saillans; merlot, cab franc, cab sauv, malbec; aged 20 months in barrels. Fronsac forthright, Fronsac solid. Given this firm basis, there's plenty of material to work with its generous oak intricacies, to stay free of over-oakiness./ That lush 2018 fruit definition, good acid, plenty of oak complications. Never loses its sense of place. Fine tannin points to cellaring prospects. 17.0+.

- (FRANCE MEDITERRANEAN) 15%; 60% grenache 30% syrah, 5% ea mourvedre, cinsault; vines 20-60 yrs old; from Vinsobres, Visan, Cairanne, Rasteau. Cool, uplifting fruit of the northern Meridionale villages Vinsobres and Visan play against the black fruit concentration of Cairanne and Rasteau. Masterfully crafted and undeniably entertaining./ Lift triumphs over weight on the palate. A sense of equilibrium prevails, so it's destined for the table already. The group was really sold on this. Orders taken. 17.0.

- (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 11%; owned by the Beraut family for 300 yrs; 80% gros manseng, 10% each chardonnay, petit manseng. Oh, what an inspiring nose! Ever peachy mansengs to the fore, with the ultimate apricot lift of the petit. Chardonnay adds a yellow delicious apple note./ So gently sweet and so brightly elevated. The flavors, which add in mango and green tea, last forever, and spread out across the palate. Always worth a detour. 17.8+.
