02/12/20 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (FRANCE ALSACE) 12.5%; all chardonnay; est. 1725. Translucent, powdery, doughy. Ideal blanc de blancs, methode champenoise of chardonnay./ While the nose seems well padded, the palate is very dry, which comes as a bit of a surprise. Dry, cleansing finish. Great versatility at the table. 16.4.

- (U.S. WEST COAST) 14.5%; est. 1932; Mendocino County's oldest winery. Sweet, dark, full pinot noir. Light reduction./ Medium bodied. A bit tart and metallic on entry, and modestly built. Does fill to a sweet finale as it warms in the mouth. Still, I liked the 2017 better. Time will tell. 15.8+.

02/12/20 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (U.S. WEST COAST) 13.5%. Proper medium color intensity./ Much sweeter fruit than the 2016./ In fact, it's a bit short on the SBC pinot acidity it usually carries. Sweet and easy appeal. Deliberate change in style? 16.1.
