(WT010621-01) 19 NOVARESE ERBALUCE BIANKO, LE PIANE  $29.99
01/06/21 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (ITALY) 13%; erbaluce; old vines in Boca, highest of the Novara hills denominazioni. Wow, that's got a surprising fruit density for varietal and altitude. Must be the old vines talking. Seckel pear and peel./ Full, intense presence on the palate too. Fruit density accompanied by raspy fruit acidity makes for balance, entertainment, and meal-worthiness. Super long finish. Awesome, really. 17.3.

(WT010621-02) 18 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER CLOS DES LUNES LUNE D'ARGENT, BORDEAUX BLANC  $21.99
01/06/21 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (FRANCE BORDEAUX) 13%; 70% semillon, 30% sauvignon; from old vines in an undulating vyd within the Sauternes AOC. The body of semillon is apparent as well as the heavier soil of the Sauternes area versus Graves. Clear ring of sauvignon makes a nice contrast./ Wow, that's a rich, full bodied semillon based wine making a clear terroir statement. You can take it to the table, but I suspect it will increase in depth and complexity after another year or two in the cellar. 16.9+

(WT010621-06) 19 BEAUJOLAIS L'ANCIEN VIEILLES VIGNES TERRES DOREES, JEAN-PAUL BRUN  $21.99
01/06/21 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (FRANCE BURGUNDY) 13%; 80+ yr old vines. Brilliant, penetrating apple-cranberry aroma. Old vines richness, density./ Yes, full flavored, rich textured, extravagant Beaujolais tout court. Not quite the awesome spread of the 2018 a couple months back, yet fully impressive in its own right. Broadens on the finish. I expect it will become even more giving as the months pass. 16.9+.

(WT010621-07) 16 MONTINORE ESTATE RESERVE WILLAMETTE VALLEY PINOT NOIR  $28.99
01/06/21 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (U.S. WEST COAST) 13.7%; an assemblage of the best barrels. 2016 style. Tighter and tarter than the 2015, younger than the 2014 when last tasted. The material is here; third straight winning vintage of this./ Reserve richness, body, amplitude, and barrel extras. Good OR acid, of course. A shame to drink now. Even without much tannin, it needs time to spread its peacock's tail. Decidedly Burgundian. 16.6+.

A neatly trimmed Novara approach to nebbiolo and friends. Depth and sweetness of 2018 lurking./ And emerging as it warms in the mouth. Wow, what a keen play of 2018 fruit sweetness and brisk Novarese acidity. Fully satisfying for current drinking. 16.7/17.0.

(WT010621-09) 18 LANGHE NEBBIOLO PERBACCO, VIETTI  $25.99
01/06/21 Wednesday Group Tasting Notes
- (I TALY) 14%; mostly from the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. Sweet 2018 fruit. Great power and richness of Langhe nebbiolo vs the former. The lusty, somewhat modern style of Vietti winemaker Luca Currado./ Yes, the powerful and insistent Vietti style that wins over critics. You've got to hand it to him though. It's lovely, pure nebbiolo presented in a user-friendly manner. Damn good drink. 16.7+.

A especially ageworthy RdM./ Good brunello fruit display, always the forte of an area rosso. Good acid, fine tannin. A well proportioned, keeper rosso. Shame to drink it now. 16.7+.
