RHO-295. 06 BANDOL, DOM TEMPIER Wine & Spirits 92: ‘The warm 2006 vintage gave a particularly effusive Bandol at Tempier, its smoky mourvedre fruit juicy with blackberry flavors. Pleasantly gritty tannins keep it in line, along with leather and charred meat notes that make it seductively ‘animale’. It will show well this summer and for several summers to come. Serve with grilled meats.’
How Many bottles/singles: 35.99 each
RHO-296. 04 COTES DU PROVENCE, JULES 50% grenache, 25% each carignan, mourvedre. Ripe, dark, gamy. Stewed plums. Rich. The carignan and mourvedre make strong contributions./ Sleek, classy, subtle black fruits, 04 dark and restrained. Needs time for the palate to fill out and reflect the nose’s amplitude. 90+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 15.99 each
RHO-297. 05 COTES DU LUBERON, DOM DE FONTENILLE Lots of garrigue and potpourri as usual here. Peppered meat and rosemary. Violets, potpourri, fig–so much going on!/ Perfumed, floral, sachet like–even more exaggerated than usual. Licorice too. Great acidity. As usual, this rocks! Has a future too. 91+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 15.99 each
RHO-298. 05 COTES DU LUBERON, CH LA CANORGUE Wow! The most beautiful black raspberry fruit, clear and well defined, plus an aura of garrigue nuances, complex and lovely./ Yes, as lovely as Luberon rouge gets. Cool and clear and varigated. Some vintages, this wine used to be very inky and compact and chewy at this age. This year, it’s just as charming as can be. 92/100. Chateau La Canorgue was the film site of the movie ‘A Good Year’ based on a book by Peter Mayle.
How Many bottles/singles: 12.99 each
RHO-299. 04 COTES DU LUBERON, CH VAL JOANIS Powerful, astute. Cool 04 uplift. Tight-knit, classic Luberon rouge. Peppercorn, garrigue, berries and seeds./ Again, the 04 lift. ROSE
RHO-301. 08 COTEAUX D’AIX EN PROVENCE, COMMANDERIE DE LA BARGEMONE Really rises to the occasion. The fruit is sweeter and richer than usual, less delicate, coy. But there’s lots of beauty and finesse as always./ Fresh, supple, suave, polished, fruity, stony, tangy. Strawberry, cotton candy, red pop. Good to go right now. One of the best I’ve experienced at this early age. 91/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 15.99 each
RHO-302. 08 COTES DE PROVENCE RESERVEE TRADITION ROSE, CH DU ROUET Fresh and more appley than red fruited. Fermentation odors still. Good promise though./ Yes, to my tastes this is still in the formative stages. I love the potential though. See you in May-June. Which is when, after all, it will be shipped. 15.8+. However, others in the group and on the staff like it right now. Jorge notes: Ahh! Soft, seductive strawberry and raspberry. So balanced and elegant. What a treat...totally. 90+/100.

RHO-308. 07 MINERVOIS LA BASTIDE, CH COUPE ROSES 07 fruit delivery coupled with Coupe Roses and Minervois discretion. Surprisingly, it’s less yielding than the 05, but maybe it’s at an earlier stage. Good grip, depth, and vigor./ Oh, boy! The palate’s more revealing! Lots of garrigue–the herbs, the spices, the peppercorns. Elegant, flowing, balanced. No tannin. Now that’s a different picture on the palate, more in keeping with the vintage. The group was equally appreciative of the palate. 90+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 14.99 each
RHO-309. 06 MINERVOIS, DOM DONJON Hearty, tarry, lots of peels. Not an easygoing, elegant Minervois. Tight but engaging. Commands attention./ Dense, ripe, firm, gripping, smoky black fruits and a cured meat note. Material over grace. Food will help; time will help more. 90++/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 14.99 each

How Many bottles/singles: 13.99 each
RHO-311. 05 CORBIERES, COL DE VENTS 05 dark fruited but not closing up like many. The fruit is sweet; no sense at all of austerity, severity. It’s just bursting with good black and red fruits, especially raspberry. Wow! Shows complexity and style./ Yes, and not only via fruit. Garrigue too! Bitter herbs, rosemary. Good and strong textural presence too. And length. This delivers! 91/100.

How Many bottles/singles: 12.99 each
RHO-313. 07 CORBIERES, CH LA BASTIDE Parker 90 - UNBELIEVABLE VALUE: ‘Guilhem Durand’s 2007 is an 80-20 Syrah-Grenache cuvee. Bright and juicy, saline and meaty, and with even more energy and sappy persistence than the other 2007 vintage Durand wines, this adds dimensions of stony, iodine-like minerality to its black pepper-tinged raw beef and blackberries to arrive at a wine far more complex and classy–not to mention lighter on its feet–than all but a handful of other wines in its appellation. Enjoy this over then next 2-3 years.’’
How Many bottles/singles: 11.99 each
RHO-314. 07 COTEAUX DU LANGUEDOC LA CLAPE, ROUGE DES KARANTES Wow! Not as fruity and easy as last fall, but bigger now. Rich and broad./ Every bit as fruit-juicy flavorful as before. Grenache roundness and black fruit constitution. Syrah and mourvedre fill out the background. And mourvedre astringency. 91+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 9.99 each
RHO-315. 06 COTEAUX DU LANGUEDOC LA CLAPE, CH DES KARANTES Ripe, sweet fruit confiture nose. Sweet cherry and milk chocolate. Perhaps a little oak in the background. How Many bottles/singles: 19.99 each
RHO-316. 07 COTEAUX DU LANGUEDOC PIC ST LOUP VIEILLES VIGNES, CH DE LANCYRE 65% syrah, 35% grenache. Oh, sweet and balanced and large! Lots of savory warmth and lush fruit. Plum, blackberry, and toast. Right./ Yes, great acidity, size, extract. Plum and garrigue. Game and licorice. Very young still. RHO-319. 06 COTEAUX DU LANGUEDOC BRONZINELLE, DOM ST MARTIN DE LA GARRIGUE Parker 90 - SUPERB VALUE: ‘Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and a bit of Carignan, treated to some time in small barrels. Full of sweet red cherry fruit tinged with vanilla, cinnamon, faintly bitter cherry pit accents and a pleasant toasted note that makes for an effect like freshly baked cherry pie with a lightly singed crust. Richly textured, and with its slight surplus in tannin vis-a-vis the Tradition bottling, well swathed in folds of fruit, this seamless wine finishes with more than enough juicy fruit unimpeded by barrel and an alluring, lingering spiciness. There is no need to wait, but this should keep nicely for several years.’
How Many bottles/singles: 16.99 each
RHO-320. 06 COTEAUX DE BESSILLES RESERVE, DOM ST MARTIN DE LA GARRIGUE Sweet fruit in the 06 dark mode. Lots of cracked pepper. Some garrigue, if not as much showing as in the last two vintages. The contriteness of a young 06./ Yes, this is 06 purple, racy. Peppercorn and garrigue again. Really great fruit acidity. This will age well. And it needs it, as it’s not as aromatic as several previous vintages at this age. 90++/100.

Excellent value. 89+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 9.49 each
RHO-326. 04 COTEAUX DE NARBONNE CARIGNAN VIEILLES VIGNES, DOM DE NIZAS Intense blackberry and bramble. Spicy-zesty, peppery. Big, ripe, bold, and very handsome. RHO-328. 07 HERAULT, LES HERETIQUES Sweet carbonic maceration style of fruitiness. Accompanying reduction of youth. Black and purple fruits./ Compact still, but not without an engaging sense of prettiness, charm. Give it a chance to evolve and open. 89+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 10.99 each
RHO-329. 08 OC, PUYDEVAL 60% cabernet franc, 28% syrah, 12% merlot. Dark, crisp, cool. Full and fine. More like the 06 than the 07. Blackberry, with clove and floral accents. Lots of aromatic and textural variegation./ Yes, rich, juicy, flavorful. Fine texture and flavor subtleties. Good weight and integrity. This is even better than the 06, and better than the 07 too. Yet from a leaner vintage in the southern Rhone. Does it get better as you move west, like 02? Seems so. 91/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 13.99 each
RHO-330. 03 CASSAN TEMPRANILLO DOM LA TOUR PENEDESSES MAS DE COUX Oh, neat to have some French tempranillo! I know they grow it there, but rarely see it. Big, handsome black fruits, tobacco, spices. Also smoke, anise, chocolate, black cherry, and lavender. Quite the complex aroma range. Very confident of its future too./ Very spicy, briary palate, with blackberry, clove, garrigue, mace, and some sense of woodiness. Lots of vigor and texture. Dense black fruits and fine grained fruit tannins. Fine acidity, especially for 03. Has a sense of majesty and command. Says ‘pay attention’. 91/100.

How Many bottles/singles: 12.99 each
RHO-335. 06 OC MARSELAN, CAMPLAZENS Marselan is a cross of cabernet sauvignon and grenache developed in France, likely at Montpellier in the Midi. Yes! That funky combo of sweet, ripe, smoky grenache and the blackberry influence of cabernet. Nicely forward now. That’s one of the assets of this variety./ Sweet and spicy. The wine is aged in tank on its fine lees and the result is not only irresistibly delicious but truly complex. Orange and lime zest, white pepper, narcissus, fennel, and mint in the nose lead to a juicy, bright palate with musky floral perfume and a shimmering interchange of citrus with wet stone, salt, iodine, and other ineffable mineral elements. This will fascinate and refresh in qual measure as well as fiendishly insinuate itself into your culinary regimen ov e the next 9-12 months, and could be held a bit longer without fear.’
