NW-1275. 05 RUSDEN BAKER HILL CABERNET SAUVIGNON BAROSSA
Parker 91 - UNDENIABLE VALUE: ‘Possesses licorice, underbrush, black currant, and tar-like aromas. With fabulous fruit and richness, it tastes like a $75 Napa Valley Cabernet. Enjoy this beauty over the next 7-10 years.’
How Many bottles/singles: 21.99 each

NW-1276. 06 THORN CLARKE IMPORTER’S RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON BAROSSA
Tanzer 90: ‘ Peppery red- and blackcurrant aromas show very good clarity and become more floral with air. Red berry and cherry tart flavors are underscored by zesty minerality. The tannins are deftly woven into the tangy fruit and only make their presence felt on the back end. An energetic cabernet with very good finishing lift and length. This would be ideal with a spicy piece of grilled lamb.’
How Many bottles/singles: 17.99 each

NW-1277. 04 CLARENDON HILLS HICKINBOTHAM CABERNET SAUVIGNON CLARENDON
Parker 94: ‘The even more backward, tannic, ageworthy 2004 is their Latour. From 50-year-old vines, it offers up aromas of creme de cassis, graphite, chocolate, coffee, and tobacco leaves. This powerful, rich, full-bodied effort needs at least 4-5 years of cellaring, and should keep for two decades or more. It is one of the few Clarendon Hills wines to be aged in 100% new French oak. None of these cuvees is fined or filtered.’
How Many bottles/singles: 67.99 each

NW-1278. 06 D’ARENBERG HIGH TRELLIS CABERNET SAUVIGNON MCLAREN VALE
Wine Enthusiast 90 - EDITORS’ CHOICE: ‘Featuring tobacco, cassis and lesser quantities of mint and cocoa, this is a full-bodied wine that offers plenty of flavor interest and depth at a reasonable price. It does show some slightly chewy, dusty tannins on the finish, but the fruit ultimately wins through, suggesting it will be at its best from 2010-2020.’
How Many bottles/singles: 19.99 each

NW-1279. 04 MARQUIS PHILIPS S2 CABERNET SAUVIGNON MCLAREN VALE

NW-1304. 06 YARD DOG RED SE AUST
Tanzer 89: ‘55% petit verdot, 30% cabernet sauvignon and 15% merlot. Powerful cherry and plum aromas are brightened by minerals and dried flowers. Strong bitter cherry and dark berry flavors are nicely framed by dusty tannins and pick up a bitter fruit pit quality on the back end. Finishes with youthful tannic grip and impressive persistence. More serious and structured than just about any other wine at this price I tried this year. Believe it or not, this will reward a few years of bottle aging.’

NW-1309. 06 GLAETZER ANAPERENNA SHIRAZ/CABERNET BAROSSA (C)
Parker 94-97: ‘Anaperenna is the wine formerly known as Godolphin, the change resulting from a trademark dispute. It was aged for 15 months in new French and American oak. It offers a sensational bouquet of pain grille, scorched earth, meat, game, blueberry, and black currants. This is followed by a surprisingly elegant yet powerful, structured wine with gobs of spicy fruit, ripe tannins, and a plush texture. The long, 60-second finish is succulent and sweet. Mostly black fruit concentrate; little or no wood./ Dark berries, spices, and tobacco flavors. Nice layering of shiraz berry and meat, and cabernet solidity. Delivers the usual reliable Clancy’s attributes. Will improve but can be brought to the table now. 90+/100.
