MEDOC
BXL-102. 05 GREYSAC, CBS Sweet black fruits and good new oak. 05 proportions, freshness, elegance. Great future./ The finesse of 05 claret. Some game notes and fine oak extras. Fine tannin. Superior to its appellation norms. Earns its classification. A keeper. 91+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 15.99 each
BXL-103. 06 LACOMBE NOAILLAC 47% cabernet sauvignon, 45% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, 3% petit verdot. Aged in barrels, 15% new. Good quality oak influences. And the fruit is sweet, ripe, and dark for 06. Fine Medoc nose./ Again, the oak adds flattering complexity. Plenty of fruit volume. Well structured. Some grip and astringency still. That will pass. This is a very good value. 91+/100.

HAUT MEDOC
BXL-105. 05 BARATEAU, CB Lots of oak. Vanillin especially. Plum, red and black fruits, fennel seed, cedar, cigar box. Shows fruit evolution from a long time in barrel./ Blackberry, black currant, and chocolate flavors. Nice and open knit now. Greater oak integration to come. 91+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 22.99 each
BXL-106. 05 BARREYRES, CB WineDoctor: ‘The nose has plenty of expressive fruit, dried cranberry and crunchy cherry. It has a lovely cool style on entry, fresh and crisp, beautifully defined, with good delineating acidity. This is fresh and savoury rather than creamy or textured, but very good with it. A reserved style, which I think would do nicely in the cellar for a couple of years, but good now especially with food. 16.5/20 (July 2009).’
How Many bottles/singles: 17.99 each
BXL-107. 07 BEAUMONT, CB Very refined, pure, elegant, fruit forward, wonderful 07 style. Plus more substance than a lot of the 07s. Some new oak in the background, as in the 06. Geez, this is just a delight, a beauty./ Young, bright, fresh, sweet cabernet berry-currant fruit. Stylish, forward, tasty. All I could want in an 07 Haut Medoc. Good future too. 91+/100.

BXL-109. 08 HAUT PLANTEY Bright blackberry and black currant cabernet aromas. Crisp, wholesome 08 claret with good form and ripe fruit filling./ Blackberry and cherry fruit of adequate ripeness and density. Compact, with racy acidity. The tannins are not obtrusive. This could be brought to the table now. However, it will reward another year in the bottle with greater softness and fruit fulfillment. 89+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 13.99 each
BXL-110. 06 LABAT Half each cabernet sauvignon, merlot. The western extension of Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme. Fine oak and fruit in tandem, both showing great finesse. The oak is sweet and spicy, the fruit-oak aromatic set complex./ Great, plummy fruit flavors. Well extracted. Plenty of stuffing. Grip, chewiness of peels extracts and fine-grained tannins. Well balanced. Long finish. Another successful Left Bank 06. 92+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 22.99 each
BXL-111. 06 LIVERSAN Half each cabernet sauvignon, merlot. Aged in Alliers barrels, 25-30% new. Soft, sweet oak aromas complement ripe red and black fruits. Plum and blackberry. This has finesse and ease. A comfortable air about it. More like an 05 than an 06. Well crafted./ Again, the feel of both fruit and oak is soft and sweet, both cabernet and merlot showing flavor and texture identities. The balance of varieties and of fruit and oak is exemplary. Inviting, almost sassy. Especially for 06 claret. Most accomplished. 92+/100.
How Many bottles/singles: 19.99 each
BXL-112. 05 MOULIN ROUGE, CB Thick and firm. Good Cussac combo of Saint Julien roundness and Moulis toughness./ Plenty of black currant and tobacco qualities. Starts austere but opens nicely. This has breeding and sophistication as well as stalwart bearing. And the oak interweavings add complexity./ The palate is toughening up a little since 2008 tastings. Lots of the 05s are now going into hibernation–a natural and positive course of life cycle. Grand potential. 94+/100.

ST EMILION
BXL-149. 06 CANTENAC, GC Not quite as special as the 05, but they’ve done a nice job with it. Have lightened up on the oak a little, as it should be. Fruit not as intense as the 05. But as I delve into it, there’s nice purity and precision. It’s well focused and well crafted all around. Just less brilliance than the 05./ An admirable effort in 06 and brings up my appreciation for the claret vintage, which is on the ascent with critics worldwide. Less range and depth than the 05, but not a small wine. Oak and fruit tannins yet to resolve. These mask and suppress some of the fruit sweetness and volume. Nice effort. 91+/100.
