Twelfth 2008 Tasters Guild Event CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH |
|
at eve the restaurant, Fourth Ave and Kingsley, Ann Arbor SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7 ; 1:00 pm

Ann Arbor Tasters Guild’s Champagne tastings at Eve Aronoff’s restaurant in Kerrytown have been wildly popular events. Last year, we decided on a Sunday afternoon time slot, since the restaurant’s evenings are heavily subscribed during the holidays. We hadn’t had an afternoon Tasters Guild event since a Saturday lunch at Moveable Feast back in the days Pat Pooley ran the restaurant, so I was uncertain about what the turnout would be like. I needn’t have been; it was greeted with enthusiasm, and
we had a big, but manageable crowd. |

Brunch is normally a late morning affair, but Michigan regulations prohibit alcoholic-beverage sales and service before noon on Sundays, so get along in the a.m. on some toast and coffee, and prepare for an array of 50 or more Champagnes augmented by a handful of other sparkling wines I’ve discovered this year that, if I were blindfolded, I’d swear came from the Champagne region. And cost half or less the price! Here is this year's proposed menu : |
|
|
Lox and eggs with caramelized onions
Pulled pork over puff pastry
Lemon bread pudding
Mixed greens and fresh herb salad with Thai peanut vinaigrette, dried fruit, coconut and macadamia nuts
Ohio bacon with maple cream and buttermilk biscuits
Winter fruit salad with wildflower honey and lime |
