	Sixth 2008 Tasters Guild Event PINK AND BLUE (You're Going to Love These Babies!) An Ambulatory Tasting of Dry Roses of the World and 2005 Bordeaux

	Two timely wine subjects–one for the table and one for the cellar. For the summer table, dry rose. Every year since the turn of the millennium, consumer interest in this type of wine has grown by leaps and bounds. The ground-swell starts in the spring when wines of the latest vintage begin to arrive, builds into the summer, and then subsides as the days grow shorter. Roses and rose consumers are no longer objects of ridicule. Today, Americans appreciate dry rose wines for their pleasures and versatility, just as Europeans have right along.
	We’ll emphasize the 2007 vintage and roses of Mediterranean France and Spain. You’ll be surprised to find too some delightful entries from other parts of France, and from Austria, Italy, North America, and the Southern Hemisphere. Like pinot noir, pinot grigio, and riesling, dry rose is ‘in’ these days, and every wine-producing country and region is trying its hand at the wine.
	2005 clarets (red Bordeaux wines) have been arriving steadily since late 2006. The inflow will peak this spring with the arrival of the ‘big boys’, where-after the wines are likely to sell through quickly, since 2005 is an outstanding claret vintage surrounded by mediocre ones. Therefore, we’d better take this timely opportunity to gather together as many as we can find for a grand revue.
	The title of this tasting sort of sounds like an invitation to a baby shower! But NO, it's an invitation to sample and learn about a wide range of two types of wines: Rose (great for summer drinking) and 2005 Bordeaux. Dick is targeting these wines and others of these types for the Tasters Guild Pink and Blue tasting on Monday, June 16 at Best Western, 2900 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor at 7pm.
