Proprietor Elizabeth Kennedy and chef Alan Merhar continue their pattern of excellence at Evans Street Station. Since Ann Arbor Tasters Guild last visited in February 2007, there have been some significant developments. Alan’s been made a partner. And the team is opening a new restaurant in the University of Michigan’s Palmer Commons not far north of Village Corner. University-affiliated, it’s not open to wine dinners like ours, but once everything’s in place and we can hook up with an ‘insider’, we might be able to line up a Tasters Guild event there sometime in the future. Meanwhile, Evans Street and Tecumseh beckon. Longer drive for most, but think of the time and expense you’ll save on parking!

Beaujolais Nouveau is first released the third Thursday of November. Last year, we had our first Ann Arbor Tasters Guild Nouveau Opening Night event, at Terry B’s in Dexter. The wines were tasty, the food delicious, and the group enthusiastic. The drawback was we couldn’t have privacy, and it was noisy. And I now feel the theme was too limited. So this year, in addition to the Beaujolais Nouveau range (last year there were eight), I want to invite other 2008 wines. We’ll have either the private or the main dining room depending on turnout. And a full menu, instead of merely a series of hors d’oeuvres like last year. Here's the Menu and Wine List |
