Perfect poise of the vintage. A very nice expression of 05 fruit refinement and measured richness and beauty. Very classic cabernet-rich claret./ Blackberry, black currant, and cedar–that’s Pauillac cabernet! Solid and vigorous cabernet with a fine future. Age 2-3 years at least. 92+/100.

3. 07 CHATEAU PICAU-PERNA, SAINT EMILION
         15.99 each; 187.95 case of 12

New York Times 3 Stars - BEST OF TASTING: ‘Fresh, fragrant and balanced; distinctive berry and earth flavors; juicy and refreshing now, will improve for several years.’ Our notes: Intense aroma of black cherry and tar. This is really dark and concentrated for 07./ Boy, this really delivers Saint Emilion generosity! Great build: acid, grip, extract, tannin. How did they come up with all this in 07? I’m impressed. Can see the good review. Good value too. 91+/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

BORDEAUX - WHITE

6. 07 CHATEAU BELLEVUE LUGAGNAC, BORDEAUX BLANC
         12.79 each; 149.95 case of 6

40% sauvignon gris, 40% sauvignon blanc, 20% semillon. Luscious and intricate. Rich nut and melon sauvignon gris qualities. Sauvignon blanc offers brightness and a frisky, piquant edge; and semillon fig, apple, and pear, and a broad, rich foundation./ Good weight and texture. Fresh, lemony acid carriage. Grains, stones, minerals. Both full and lively. Speaks of a well-fashioned cuvee. Complex, generous, meal-worthy. 92/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

7. 08 COTES DE GASCOGNE, DOMAINE SAN DE GUILHEM
         7.49 each; 87.95 case of 12

From the Armagnac region southeast of Bordeaux. Ahh! Ooh! Intense stuff! Full and dry. Rich in dry matter, extract. So many of these 08 Euro whites are like that. Low yields?. Nicely burnished texture you can feel in the nostrils./ Yes, this is the fullest in extract, the most textured, the least soft of any vintage yet. Form, balance, refreshment. Truly dry and really loaded. Wow! 91/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

Wine & Spirits 90; Wine Spectator 90: ‘Delivers mature spice, briar patch, mulled currant and braised fig notes, all matched by bright, mouthwatering acidity. A lingering tobacco note adds extra length. Solid. Now-2011.’ From a vineyard underlain by limestone.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

10. 07 VOUVRAY SEC, DIDIER & CATHERINE CHAMPALOU
         14.99 each; 176.50 case of 12

Parker 90 - BEST VALUE: ‘A fetching nose of quince, orange, lime, narcissus, freesia, sweet corn, and green tea ushers in a luscious yet remarkably delicate palate, with a perfectly judged hint of sweetness (this is what the locals call sec tendre) supporting pear, quince, and citrus. Savory salinity, a hint of caramel, chalk, and citrus zest as well as a suggestion of vanilla cream inform an ear-to-ear finish of lift and refinement. Enjoy this over the coming 2-3 years.’
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

11. 06 MENETOU SALON CLOS RATIER, HENRI PELLE
         14.99 each; 176.50 case of 12

Sauvignon blanc from an appellation west of Sancerre. 06 incisiveness coupled with that usual creamy frosting, as if there were some sauvignon gris here. It’s just the clay component of the soil talking. Peach, orange, and soft, fleshy tropical fruits./ Yes, you get the coolness and race of the vintage along with the plumpness and fullness of Ratier. Dry grasses and minerals. Extra dimensions here compared to the Morogues–worth a premium. 92/100.

Wow! Crisp and fresh like an 06. Not 07 tender, mild. Lovely pinot cherry expression, very pure. Cote de Nuits black-fruit leanings./ Yes! Pure and fresh and delicious. Cherry, raspberry, and touch of licorice. The best fruit possible from this vintage. Nice acidity and fine-grained tannin. Refined in its carriage, while expressive and generous. A tour de force in 07 Bourgogne winemaking. Yikes! A group favorite. 92+/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

BURGUNDY - WHITE

17. 08 PETIT CHABLIS, ALAIN PAUTRE
         16.79 each; 197.50 case of 12

The Petit Chablis appellation lies mainly west of Chablis, on Portlandian rather than Kimmeridgean limestone. Wow! Crisp 08 style, plus good volume and extract. Admirably flinty./ Solidly built. Bright and crisp. Ideal Petit Chablis. Good grip and acidity, plus a sweet spot in the center. Yes, perfect for the genre. 92/100.

         33.99 each; 199.95 case of 6

Tight, compact, solid Puligny presentation. Sweet-fruited 07 chardonnay core. Elegant, classy./ Young and forceful, with lots of Puligny calcaire basis, firm and minerally. Lots of fruit elegance and panache of 07. Confident in its future, which is very bright indeed. 92+/100.

19. 08 MACON VILLAGES CHARDONNAY, LOUIS JADOT
         11.49 each; 134.95 case of 12

Firm and compact to start, it gets bigger, livelier, and more enticing with aeration. Apple, and touches of toast and butterscotch from the oak./ Some terroir, and a sensibly light measure of oak. Really quite a meaty Macon suggestive of Chalon instead. Shows both allure and finesse. Intriguing wine that is sure to have a future worth following. 90+/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

20. 07 BOURGOGNE ALIGOTE, J-H GOISOT
         12.79 each; 149.95 case of 12

Parker 90 - EXTRAORDINARY VALUE: ‘The 2007 is totally on-form, featuring an expression of herbed, salted chicken stock laced with cherry pits, lemon pips, and chalk, of which to my knowledge only wines grown on Kimmeridgian or closely related soils are capable. Glossy and substantial, at the same time it offers lip-smacking refreshment by way of fresh citrus, and a sweet floral perfume haunts this year’s rendition in a way I cannot previously recall. Given the Goisots’ 17 acres of Aligote vines (most of them ancient, a portion of which even escaped phylloxera), there is not shortage, and if you’re tempted to think that I’m too carried away, first have somebody serve this to you blind! This should remain delightful for a least the next 4-5 years, exhibiting as much concentration and energy as any vintage of Goisot Aligote in recent years. $20.’
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

RHONE/MIDI

Some syrah raspberry and seed, carignan black cherry, and mourvedre purple berries. Shows Gard coolness. And 07's buxom nature./ Yes, this is Gard styled. Reminds me of the Chapoton Cotes du Rhones we used to import.. Nice garrigue and spice display as well as varietal melange. Gard Cotes du Rhone, and right. 90+/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

22. 06 COTES DU RHONE VILLAGES, DOMAINE SAINTE ANNE
         11.49 each; 134.95 case of 12

Oh, boy! The extra range and concentration of Villages fully apparent. Lovely, cool blueberry tones of Gard, and sweet raspberry syrah utterances too. Great nose./ Yes, this is much fruitier and demonstrative in youth than either the 05 or the 04. Fresh acid and mineral carriage focus the elements. Delicious. Gard coolness and blue fruit, with plenty of ripeness and fine tannin. Well liked by the group. 92/100.

25. 07 CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, DOMAINE GRAND TINEL
         31.99 each; 187.95 case of 6

With more time one coaxes forth all the accoutrements of traditional Chateauneuf: dark berries, earth, cigar box, roasted meat, and meat fat./ Full bodied, full textured. Dried fruits, woods, licorice. Loaded. Will improve 5-7 years at least. 94+/100.
How Many bottles/singles:            How Many cases:

26. 08 CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE BLANC. DOMAINE DU GRAND TINEL
         28.99 each; 169.95 case of 6

So fresh and lifted. Rich, bright, forward Med black fruits. Full of garrigue. Fine texture. A super Med 08 with a great future. No wonder this was Wine Spectator Top 100. Chapoutier knows the south as well as the north. 91+/100.

31. 08 RHEINHESSEN SILVANER CLASSIC, JANZ liter
         11.49 each; 134.95 case of 12

Wines labeled ‘Classic’ may have some residual sweetness, but it may never exceed twice the level of the acidity, thus assuring a dry taste experience. The maximum RS in any regard is 1.5%. That’s typical for Brut Champagne, which tastes very dry thanks to high acidity plus the CO2. ‘Classic’ wines have 8 degrees’ higher than minimum must weight, assuring superior ripeness that will guarantee they reach the minimum alcohol content of 12% (11.5% in Mosel-Saar-Ruwer). Each wine must bear a varietal name, and that grape must by traditional to the region. The aim is to achieve a meal-worthy German wine of high quality level, emulating the style of the late 1800s, when dry German riesling from a top site sold for the same price as a Bordeaux First Growth and was seen on most of the grand banquet menus of the period. 14.5%–Wow! But it’s not heavy or spiritous. Crisp and appley take on silvaner. Tingly, penetrating. Real lift./ Silvaner’s soft approach with good acidity following. Dry, mellow, well padded. Full-bodied finish that wants food. Too large to make a refreshing aperitif. Fine value in liter ($8.50 the bottle equivalent). 90/100.

Wow! Grand! Sweeter and suaver than many of its peers. 05 fruit forward style helps. Cherry, blueberry, plum, flowers. Some oak sophistication here too. Not a trace of young Barolo meanness.
