All merlot from 35+ year old vines. Aged in barrels, 30% new. One of Michel Rolland’s first consulting assignments, and well I remember the fine 1982 he helped to craft. This 2009 is better. I sampled this a few months back; I prefer it today. Has come up nicely. Plumping up, becoming a more fulfilled 09. Maybe travel was a factor before./ Very pretty wine. The merlot shows. Less tannic and severe than some of the bigger boys today. Gentle enough to put to use now. Bright fruit aromatics with floral overtones. Over-achiever. 91+/100.
